Junior Bergen and Trevin Gradney were on The Big J Show in Billings this morning. When asked if he planned on entering the transfer portal after the season comes to an end, Junior Bergen responded with the following:

“I plan on staying in Missoula. My heart’s in Missoula. That’s where I want to be. My best friends, my teammates, my coaches are all out there, so yeah that’s where my heart’s at, there’s where I want to be.”

Well, Merry GRIZMAS everyone! He seems to be an outstanding person with sound footing. Selfishly, I want to see him stay bc he's a great human, as well as one of the many exciting offensive players to watch, other than the entire Griz defense. 😎

Well it's not like he's getting a lack of NIL deals at UM. He's got a deal at Lithia Motors that gets him a free, brand new car every year he's at UM. So trust me, he's well taken care of

A plan to stay is no guarantee and 200k in NIL can sink a plan quickly. Not to be a Debbie downer but I’ll be shocked if he stays. I’d say there’s a 90% chance he goes elsewhere. And good for him if he does, he’s been a hero here.

Bergen is my kind of guy. That statement and loyalty, his toughness and willingness to go up for tough balls and catch them, his willingness to be a team player and to what it takes to help his team, his return ability and patience, his apparent humbleness and frequent crediting of his teammates, etc.

I support getting him a decent chunk of UM NIL, even if it is a token of what he command elsewhere. Let’s go for 2 championships in a row.

Reporting from Medano Beach.

sulser was a similar sort of talent, although more injury prone. he was also from billings, i believe. i don't know that he played at texas much after he transferred there, other than he didn't have a key role on their team. so maybe bergen considered that in his decision making... and maybe not. but at least to my eyes, they were quite similar on the field.

Sulser got in a handful of games and caught a couple passes at Texas. I talked to him downtown after the NDSU game. He was with UM friends. He said he enjoyed his Texas experience. He said he left UM because
the coaches said he wouldn’t be able to earn his spot back after injury. That doesn’t make sense to me, but that was said on egriz previously. I can’t imagine he couldn’t have earned good playing time. I wish he had stayed.

Whether he stays or leaves I believe he is a man of great character and that alone is a huge factor in a successful career, wherever he ends up - in football or life.
