Judge: Ex-Griz QB's trial likely to be in February

MISSOULA — A Missoula judge says the rape trial of a former Montana quarterback will likely be held in February as the attorneys in the case work out several issues with the evidence.

District Judge Karen Townsend discussed the possibility of holding Jordan Johnson's trial in January, though she said at Tuesday's hearing it's more likely the trial will be held in February.

Johnson is charged with sexual intercourse without consent. He is accused of raping an acquaintance at her home this past February while they were watching a movie.

Deputy County Attorney Suzy Boylan says the state may ask for 500 potential jurors because of the case's publicity.

Johnson has been suspended from the football team but he is still attending classes.
