Even though https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Smoltz ...has listed a John Smoltz going to Michigan State for baseball (under the Title 'Early Life'), I overheard on mlb.com an interview with John Smoltz recently about, as he was an all-conference basketball player in the State of Michigan, Waverly HS, that is, J. Smoltz stated that he was but 24 hours from going to class at Michigan State and playing for a Jud Heathcote for basketball; then, he changed his mind. Perhaps because he was just then drafted by Detroit in the mlb amateur draft. Interesting aside IMHO
