Why in the world would defense offer an objection in this instance??... Of Course bruising and visable injury could be an implication of rape.... if this is a sampling of the issues that the defense has objected to, no wonder the Judge has overruled them more so than the State ....
Because the witness was the defendants dad testifying as a character witness. Not only was it inappropriate, the witness wasn't an expert and his opinion was just conjecture. You are still #dumbass Sorry, I was #dumbass there, I thought they asked the question to his dad. Still, my point is the same and you are still a dumbass.
The objection was not just appropriate, overruling it was wildly inappropriate.

This is a textbook objection; the witness is a character witness, the question is beyond the scope of direct examination -- far, far beyond the scope of direct -- no foundation was laid for the witness to have any opinion whatsoever on the question asked, and it's irrelevant as to what a basketball coach father who is on the stand talking about his son's character may or may not think constitutes appropriate medical evidence.

The Judge then rolling her eyes, as reported, is inappropriate behavior before the Jury in particular because the Defense objection was not just appropriate, there were no grounds to overrule it whatsoever.

The question was inappropriate. There was no legal justification for it.

Most of the stuff that Townsend has let in seems to be for distraction rather than more probative than prejudicial. Although to be fair, the defense atty should have asked to voir dire the witness in order to show that they had no special training or expertise that would justify an answer.

Plus, it makes the prosecution look stupid for even trying.

"Townsend, raising her voice to overrule the objection, rolled her eyes and allowed defense to approach."

Age is about right. Was Townsend's maiden name Freisler, by any chance. Like father, like daughter.

Before she entered law school at the age of 31, Townsend, who is the daughter of a lawyer, was a schoolteacher, a school counselor and mother.

the internet is great...
http://www.itstimefortownsend.com/endorsements.php

includes a Adam Duerk & Amy Duerk. I wonder how much the Duerk's donated to Judge Townsend's campaign?

Probably a mistake for her honor to leave her election web page active.

Unfortunately, Dylan McFarlands name is on there too.

I thought this was interesting as reported by the Kaiman from yesterday's testimony:

"Then, Duerk questioned whether bruising on the woman’s chest or injuries to her genitals would imply that she was raped.

Pabst objected and said, “This line of questioning is completely inappropriate. May we approach?”

Townsend, raising her voice to overrule the objection, rolled her eyes and allowed defense to approach.

The objections were overruled, and Johnson agreed that those types of injuries would be consistent with rape."

Why in the world would defense offer an objection in this instance??... Of Course bruising and visable injury could be an implication of rape.... if this is a sampling of the issues that the defense has objected to, no wonder the Judge has overruled them more so than the State ....

I didn't think the prosecution had any questions for Jordan Johnson's father...?

I thought so as well that the Prosecution let JJ's father go without any questions? Did not cross him.

It's fine to support who you feel is right. As I recall Mr. McFarland is not a prosecuting attorney.

I agree, and I admit I knew nothing about her before this trial. There are a lot of names on there of people I respect. Just saying, and it struck me since McFarlands name is kind of prominent and out front these days with the Pat Williams thing.

Did I read one of the last tweets before lunch correctly that the defense has rested?
I didn't know it was possible for either side to call a rebuttal witness after resting like the prosecution is doing.

My guess is that since the prior witness refered specifically to Dr. Bell's comments and notes, he can be recalled by the prosecution to further clarify or rebut.

Atorrneys?

Rebuttal witness? Why is this allowed when the Prosecution rested? Legal experts?
Order of Trial:
Judge's Preliminary Statement and instructions
Opening Statements
Prosecution Case in Chief
Defense Case in Chief
Prosecution Rebuttal
Defense Surrebuttal
Closing Arguments
Jury Instructions
Not Guilty Verdict

I'd like to know too, please:

Brian Smith ‏@MslaDefender
There is no record every time the attorneys approach for a bench argument. #lotsofbencharguments #johnsontrial why with no jury here?
