Barring prosecution finding other girls she claims he sexually assaulted, or providing some hardcore evidence, I don't see how a jury can convict without reasonable doubt. Defense has done everything they should at this point. So far, it looks like prosecution has very little chance to win this case.
My thought is the accuser somehow believes what happened was exactly JJ is being accused of. Based on cross examination by defense, I can see how a male of any age could think what happened was consensual.
Outcome aside, my thoughts and prayers to both parties and families. I hope somehow both parties can figure out how to have as close to a normal life as possible. Both parties will be tarnished and effected for life. Chances are both are good people, that made a bad decision one night, and that night will haunt both forever.
I cannot remember which thread or which poster mentioned this, but they hit the nail on the head from an open minded parental point of view. If my girl, or niece came to me, and told me about the details we have learned from this trial, I would have to feel for her, but tell her to move on. Honey, you got burned and this was a case of "it takes 2", live, learn, and move on. Granted, I likely would have flown off the handle and want to hurt the guy, at 1st. After hearing the details, and calming down, tell the girl, "it is not right to take this case to court, and save everyone the pain of a trial."
I have no idea what her family, friends, and even the prosecuting team told her to begin with. Some may have tried to rationalize this with her, but she had her mind set on punishing JJ. Even if not found guilty, experience the fear and scorn that will haunt him rest of his life.
I honestly don't know how close my thinking is on all this. I met JJ one time, and he impressed me as a person. I have not met the girl, but I cannot fault her for pursuing this, if she truthfully felt in her heart and mind he did this. No matter what any of us say or think bout this, my prayers to both JJ and the accuser. What I don't look forward to is the continue bashing of either party by egrizzers. I hope egrizzers as a whole will take the high road on this case when it is over, and move on without bashing either party.
Like these 2 young adults, hope we too can move on from this with respect, dignity, and understanding.
