I didn't see where the facts in that case appeared worse than Donaldson's. It said "linked" to two rape cases. Since the guy didn't remember the incident, he couldn't plead guilty outright and had to do it via Alford plea.

I don't think Beau Donaldson is a rotten person. Not at all. The sentence of having to register as a sex offender for life is punishment enough. But he admitted it. He pleaded guilty. And the facts in his case warranted it.

The thread isn't about Donaldson. You decided -- probably a good call -- to again change the subject.

You haven't responded to my demand for your comments on hunger in Zimbabwe either. And I think that's a huge disservice to honest and sincere people everywhere. But, I can't help how you distance yourself from starving children in Zimbabwe. And it tells me a lot about you that you refuse to acknowledge hunger problems everywhere.

I haven't taken the time, on this thread, to "distance" myself from these remarks either:

1) I think I am going to invade the Sudentland.
2) We will close Guantanamo Bay by the end of 2009.
3) The death of one is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic.
4) God does not play dice.

What is this "Hall Monitor" persona that you just decide to up and demand some kind of weird loyalty test on some other topic, and then condescend that "therefore" somebody must be implicit in something nefarious because they don't respond to your idiotic red herrings designed mainly to change the subject.

Entitle it "Things that I demand people acknowledge about the ills of the world and in particular my recent discovery that a lawyer somewhere thought his client got a raw deal."

Yeah they do: What did you do? Could you have done more? what were you wearing? Did you give him mixed sinals Why were you with him etc etc. All the questions that have been asked and more, not sure if "mad is the word" It wouldn't be surprising if "moms qustions" were overwhelming

Its not an unfamiliar position 1 in 5 are estimated to have been "raped" higher on college campuses

I just asked a few moms if they would get mad at their daughters for being raped. They said they wouldn't get mad at them.

I respect your opinion. But if you don't think that Donaldson got too stiff a sentence because of the atmosphere in Missoula, then speak up. There's one guy speaking to national newspapers about this situation and that's what the world is going to think based on his opinion. You can distance yourself from them, as I assume many Griz fans would, or just continue to insult me. The choice is yours.

Honestly, I would say Donaldson got off pretty easily with only having to do 10 of the 30 years.

What basis do you have for saying that? Feel free to call attention to some longer sentences for date rape in Montana. See my recent post on the subject.

No basis whatsoever. I find sexual intercouse without consent to be grotesque. Raping a friend sleeping on your couch should be no different than if it were done at the end of knife. I just don't find the parallels between Donaldson's case and Johnsons.

Not even a shred of integrity, not that anyone with any would have fabricated the allegation in the first place, so that particular failing only offers a redundancy.

Well so far that hasn't happened, pretty much in synch with the prosecution. Chances of acquital still look pretty slim. Hung Jury is the most likley meaning even the jury isn't sure what all the "words mean"

Frankly it doesn't matter what I think. You are the one that cited a statement by BD's attorney as evidence that "the problem" hasn't been fixed. Implicit in 75's argument is that such a statement is hardly evidence of anything. Attorney's make supportive statements about their clients. Hardly shocking or unique. All of the smoke that you have been throwing up is probably to mask he fact that you don't actually even know what the problem is.

There's an "attitude" problem, all right. It's with people so obsessed with their preferred result that the facts don't matter at all; they are an inconvenience to an alter-reality.

This problem affects nearly all the judges in Missoula. Karen Townsend, the judge in this trial, decides all her cases before she hears any evidence and this case is no different. Just watch, she sustains all the objections from the Prosecution, all the pre-trial motions went the Prosecutions way. Remember all those texts messages the defense wanted but she wouldn't allow to be entered as evidence, she's a terrible judge that doesn't allow the legal system or a fair trial to get in the way of her preconceptions.

This is the same judge that said before the trial that JJ "probably did it".

Is this true? If it is it seems like pretty significant judicial misconduct to me.

"performance" at the forresters ball (75 gave a description that would make any one think she was) and went over for a hook up after a having a few, that certainly would be taking advantage of her (or predatory) and if he had to have had a few to consider it that would be alcohol fueled.

Why is it so surprising that anyone would take exception to 75's "words" he makes it too easy.

I remember hearing that as well, don't remember the source. But judicial misconduct, that's Missoula's judges for you - never saw a judicial conduct they couldn't mis.

When he is acquitted because of the facts exposed in the tiral, you will cry that it's biased because he is a football player, when in all appearances, including the judge, the bias is in the other direction.

Why is he a predator if he is drunk, but taking advantage of her if she is drunk? That sounds like a double standard to me.
