JJ Trial

Any guesses on who the witness will be tomorrow? Seeing the amount of time allotted and it being the defenses last witness, I expect someone pretty high profile. I have always scoffed at the idea that Pflugrad might testify, but I'm not quite as sure now. Maybe?

Pflugrad?

I agree. This is a little spooky, if you think about it. I have guys I work with that knew her name a week ago, based on this same connection, amongst others on the witness list.

I am really surprised some a-hole hasn’t posted her name on here.

Someone did months ago, but the mods were on fire and deleted it immediately. Was a real shocker to find out her dad was my high school science teacher. Have kept my mouth shut.

That's why I'm leaning towards hoping the name never comes out....outta respect for him.
I have a daughter as I am sure many of you on here do. I can understand why certain individuals don't want her name out in public.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. JJ has his name out there for people to support or ridicule him depending whose side they favor. His name and his family have been dragged through the mud. It makes zero sense that this woman gets to hide her identity just for the simple fact that she is a She. You should not be able to hide behind that if you are going to accuse anyone of a crime.
As for protecting her dad, Really, you have to be kidding me.

Not for protecting the dad...just feel bad for him. Great man. Agree with everything else you have said...

I, too, am hoping for a unanimous acquittal but after watching the O.J. trial I am not holding my breath. As a reformed/retired journalist I have sat through many a civil and criminal court proceeding and have often been surprised by the jury's decision. I truly hope I am not surprised this time. In my opinion this should have never been brought to trial due to the lack of actual evidence and the shaky story of the alleged victim.
There just hasn't been enough information presented by the prosecution to convince 12 people to unanimously convict a young man of a felony rape charge beyond a reasonable doubt. This case is littered with doubt. Two young people's lives, two families, an entire community and all of Griz Nation, have been severely derailed by this entire situation. It's been a mess from the outset, but thankfully we are nearing the end. I hope the jury renders it's decision Friday afternoon and Jordan doesn't have to dangle on a string the entire weekend.

4:45 PM Friday jury returns with a not guilty verdict, I bet my sammich money on it

If not Pflu, O'day??

i have never really understood the argument that it is ok for the accused to be named but not the accuser....why does one get the benefit and the other does not? if you are innocent until proven guilty, it would make common sense to me, not disclose the accused names.....just sayin.....

I have a question for you legal minds out there. I seem to remember that Adam Duerk offered his services Pro Bono to the prosecution. Why would an attorney offer free services to the State and especially on a case that has as little merit for the State as this one has proven to have?

Well of course a certain number of pro bono hours are required by the state bar. I expect he knew this was high profile and he would get his name out there. Probably had visions of being a prosecutor someday
There isn't a pro bono requirement. There is a pro bono "suggestion."

Some feel he is a social climber and tries to use the public misery of others to develop a public reputation. I don't know him, he's a new guy to me, but I did have lunch with one of his bosses a couple of weeks ago, and ... I guess it is a mixed picture over there.

75 is right of course, pro bono is not a requirement per se, but God help you if later go before a judge that sent you a pro bono case that you refused! Anyway, it safe to say this pro bono might have fulfilled his suggested quota, but probably wont help the career much, IMO.

I don't think doing pro bono work is really in the spirit of the whole idea. Pro bono for a defendant who can't afford an attorney and will get stuck with a crappy public defender seems to me to be the point. The couunty pretty much has all available resources.

That's a good point. Pro bono is designed to assist those without recourse to negotiate their way into the legal system. It is designed to help the poor. It could be thought of as a perversion of the system to volunteer your time to assist the all-powerful State into making someone poor as the result of your efforts ...

Kind of a twisted motive now that I think about it ... more for "public" advertising than for genuine relief and support for the poor; what the system "intended."

I'm starting to think that this comment never actually was said. One would think that would be a pretty significant quote pertaining to the case.

I am pretty sure I know who the accuser is but there is absolutely no way I would ever post it on any blog site. I fully expect 99+% of Griz Nation is the same way.
Today's testimony was heartbreaking to say the least. I think it it is time to pray for all involved.
I think almost everyone knows the young ladies name and you are correct on both counts. There is no reason WHATSOEVER to post it AND it is a good time to pray for these young people and their families.

I don't know who she is and have not even bothered to look it up. Totally irrellevent to me. I am a Christian and have prayed for all involved from the beginning. I have used it to teach my daughter and son. I can't imagine either of them in this situation. Makes me sick to my stomach.

My thought on this is that it was brought up during pretrial. We've all had the opportunity to see how this judge operates now, so I think it may have been disallowed on the grounds of heresay or something. I really do have problems with this judge.

I remember it coming up in the motion to dismiss, filed waaay back on August 7th. Remember this was done because there was no probable cause sufficient to sustain the charge of sexual intercourse without consent.

I have changed my view of this whole sorry affair, from what I thought was a girl with a fertile imagination and a fragile emotional grip was hiding behind the law to reclaim her virtue and perhaps was intoxicated on the notoriety. I have felt all along that it was bullshit, but now I am thinking otherwise.

I recall the shit storm that was swirling around the whole football program and athletic department. To coin a term from politics, the "optics" were terrible for this case to be dismissed. As much adieu about nothing that it all turned out to be, at least for Jordy's sake, it all came to the light of day in a public trial. If the charges were dismissed amid all the bad publicity, there would have been a cloud hanging over the young man, and he certainly would have been expelled by the "honors court" or whatever they call it.

Now I am confident he will be exonerated and I dare the UM kangaroo court to carry through with their bullshit "expulsion". Perhaps they will reconsider now that all the air has been let out of the souffle.

That could be, but I'm pretty sure that at some point ground rules are layed saying what will and won't be allowed, and somewhere this testimony may have been dis-allowed. Just a thought. This judge to a novice observer like me doesn't seem to be very fair.

Even if he is acquitted, what did it cost him in legal fees? Sad all around.
