It's about time the standard pro player contract forbids...

ESPN is reporting that Lavar Arrington is now in the hospital after a motorcycle accident. Wasn't Ben Roethlisberger's lucky scrape enough to get this simple contract change league-wide? What's it going to take, someone getting killed?

Given the extensive investments teams are making in these guys, one would think that steps would be taken on this.

Not to be picky or try to incite a fight or anything but Arrington is a free agent, so a contract clause wouldn't have mattered anyways. To my knowledge he was rehabbing an achillis injury that cost him his job with the Giants and was hoping to catch on with an NFL team, so essentially by getting on a bike without a contract he was just being an idiot. His career is done.

I'm not sure it should be in their contract, but they (the player) should be smart enough not to get on one. :naughty:

Jay Williams: Done
Ben Rothlesburger: Lucky

Not to be nitpicky, Dahlberg, but Kellen Winslow (Sr, that is) never had an incident with a bike. His high talent, low output son, however, did get VERY lucky with his tangle with a bike.

While we're talking about baseball... Kerry Wood should be rolled around in a plastic bubble in between starts and during the offseason.

And so should Mark Prior.

Maybe pro baseball should stop players from riding in automobiles?

Didn't Tom Glavine lose most of his front teeth while getting into an accident last year. This as a passenger in a NY cab if not mistaken.

The way NY hacks drive, I'm not surprised.

Two moter cycle accidents... but not a single person wants to mention clubs, guns, etc.

Let be what they want to be. Ride a bike, club, drive a sports car 120 MPH. If they die they die. DARWIN!

I can't speak for NY, but Seattle/Tacoma drivers blow. Then again, maybe they wouldn't be as bad if the DOT didn't hand a class of 3rd Graders a piece of paper and tell them to do the blue prints for the road system around here.
