Moikobu will be the fourth Viking to sign a Division-I letter of intent.
After contemplating the possibility of taking some more visits, Nyandigisi Moikobu has decided that won't happen. The athletic 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward sat down and realized that he had already seen all that he needed to see on his first official visit and the fit was just right. So earlier this week, the Rainier Beach standout made the call and he'll continue his basketball career in the Big Sky Conference.
"I decided to go with Montana," Moikobu said. "I just liked it down there and felt comfortable, and it just came to me. I like that they're a team that can make it to the tournament."
Ever since coming back from his trip to Missoula a couple of weekends ago, Moikobu had been thinking hard about the Grizzlies program. The original thought was to see if some of the other schools that had been calling to show interest would come through with a visit invite or even a scholarship offer. But the more he thought about things, there was no reason to wait any longer.
"I like how the coaches and the players are all close," Moikobu said. "I really liked playing with them and I felt that I fit in."
The plan for Moikobu at Montana is for a position shift - something he welcomes and is set to prepare for. "I know I need to get in the weight room a lot, but I also need to work on my ball-handling," Moikobu said. "I'll be playing a good portion at the three, so I need to work on all that stuff."
Moikobu plans on signing his letter-of-intent this week, and when he does he'll be the fourth Rainier Beach standout to head to the Division I level, joining teammates Reggie Moore (Fresno State), Mike Ladd (Fresno State), and Ababe Dimisse (Eastern Washington).
WashingtonPreps.com would like to congratulate Moikobu and his family on his commitment.
