Is there a place for girl coaches in football?

Never happen? People used to say that about minorities. Now we have a minority who's won a Super Bowl as a head coach. ANY coach gets his/her start as an assistant. You think Bill Walsh got to the Super Bowl without doing that? He started out under Sid Gillman, like a lot of others did.

We already have female assistants at the HS and college level. It's only a matter of time before they trickle into HC jobs at those levels and on into the NFL. Heck, we've already had a female HC of a pro hoops squad that qualified for the freaking playoffs.

Never happen? Never say never, Havre. One day, an attitude like that will come back to bite you in the rear.

First off, how hard is it to take a team to the the playoffs in the ABA? i'd like a crack at this. the reason there's a female kicking coach is because there are female kickers. kicking is not a position where strength and size are important. the fact that she remained through multiple coaches isn't surprising. "Our program is awful...let's fire the kicking coach!" sounds realistic. The more likely scenario: "alright sir, time to fill out your staff, who do you want at kicking coach?" "whoever we have now"

there are many coaches in college that never played college ball. too small. there are many coaches in the nfl that never played in the nfl. not enough talent. and there are even coaches in the nfl that never played college. the point is, you dont have to be big and strong to coach. you don't have to athletic or gifted. all you have to do is be smart, and prepared. and if a no-name guy from a small town in wisconsin can work his ass off and coach in junior high, highschool, college, and eventually the nfl, without ever playing a down in highschool, than you are totally ignorant to think that a woman couldn't do the same thing. :twocents:
