Intersting 'what if' about Idaho.

I trolled this question to them earlier today, but I am genuinely interested in a group's opinion.

Regarding Idaho football program, what if UI was in Coeur D'alene rather than Moscow? Do you think location matters?

Living In CDA area I can say that it probably wouldn't change much. More Griz and BRONCO fans here than IDAHO fans still. With that said the proximity to the interstate and the larger attractions of CDA might draw more people to games.
I think the proximity to WSU does hurt them though

I actually think it would help a bit. My wife is a die hard Vandal and it is a pain in the butt to get to Moscow, even from that state's large population centers. I know some more out of state alum probably would go to more games if it were in Spokane. It would help being able to fly into Spokane and having more motel options. Also, if you have kids or aren't into the party scene there really isn't much to do in Moscow.

Doesn't matter though. It isn't and won't be. Idaho's game day environment will never be on par with UM or even MSU. The support their is already pretty lackluster and the move down will more than likely have a negative short-term impact. I do think that will change if they can win games, become a contender, and re-establish rivalries with UM, MSU, and EWU.

Shit EWU in a class by itself when it comes to putting the hurt on the big boys.
Griz have t won up since Oregon State 89. Idaho but that doesn't really count.
Hauck always whined about this and that setting alibis up and playing the "woe is us card."
Baldwin always competes well when moving up. Great program great coach!

Um... ok then. Back on topic...

Moscow is very secluded it definitely hurts them, however I think Boise State has been the main reason for Idaho's demise. Boise State is the poster child for football in Idaho and unfortunately for Idaho Boise is a much attractive place for recruits. All the on the field success aside, Boise is a much easier place to recruit to than Moscow. I am obviously biased but if i'm a kid i'd rather play in Missoula than Moscow all day everyday. Losing tons of games, living in the middle of no where, no home field advantage, and constantly having to hear about the team on the other side of the state being shoulders better than you. In Missoula you will win more, better chance to get to the league (we have more NFL players than they do), awesome homefield atmosphere, loyal fanbase, Missoula is a much better place to live than Moscow, no PAC 12 school 10 miles down the road to live in the shadow of, and better looking co-eds.
