If pflu still here...

Would this season really be that much different if pflu was still the head coach? JJ would still not be the QB, gregorak and rosey would still be new coordinators, etc. Not as though Pflu was a genius on defense, so safe to say our secondary problems would still be what they are. Perhaps TM would have improved more as season went on, but I am sure Rosey came here knowing he would call plays, so improved pay-calling may or may not have happened. Is this season simply a perfect poop storm of poor play, poor decision making and poor luck?

Good question. The defensive holes would have been pretty much the same, as would the loss of JJ -- who, toward the end of the season, seemed to grasp the offensive philosophy of the spread. During the Oregon game, the announcers quoted Skip Kelly as saying that it could take 5-6 games for a QB to really "get it." But at least Pflu actually knew, and was committed to, the spread offense. It's not clear that D & crew have a clue about any particular offensive scheme. McK has shown, in flashes, that he could be really good in the spread. With Pflu to school him, that might have happened. (But, of course, we'll never know.) A potent offense might have covered any defensive sort-comings, or at least given them more confidence that they didn't have to do it all.
