The next time the Bobcats win in Missoula, and it won't be until at least 2016, No Egrizzer is aloud to start a Classless Bobcat thread about how atrocious the celebrating on the Wash-Griz Stadium turf is. I don't remember if there was one after last year's game, but I know there was more than one after the 2010 game, and all because the Cats paraded around the field with their yellow jerseys.

Point being, this whining about classlessness is getting so stupid. We build this thing up to be bigger than the Super Bowl, the World Cup and Christmas all rolled into one and then we as fans, Cats (This Year) and Griz (in the past) whine and cry about how offensive the postgame celebration is on the other's field. If this is such a big deal, and we expect the teams to take it is as such, then for christ sakes, let the damn kids who just poured their guts out enjoy it in whatever manner they choose after the game!

Obviously, I'm bringing this up because of the "Classless" thread on BN, but I know for a fact, Egriz has whined about the same things in the past. This year's claims are that the Griz should wait to celebrate until they get in the lockerroom, and that many MSU fans were being flipped off by Griz players and that one Griz player pretended to urinate on the Bobcat logo at midfield. I'm 150 percent positive those things didn't happen. In fact, what did happen was, yesterday was the LEAST exuberent celebration I've seen from a Griz' team in Bobcat Stadium. Instead, I saw Griz players initially ignore the trophy presentation, opting instead to make sure they spent time with McGhee and Kirk. After that, the team circled the stadium with the trophy, sang the school song like they always do, and then stayed on the field to speak with family, friends and media. It was actually about as low-key as I've seen a Griz' team celebrate a win in Bobcat Stadium, EVER.
 
Its cat griz. The winning team is going to celebrate. This is what it is all about. Congrats to the Griz. You were the better team this year. Period! Every fan base has poor losers. Good luck in the playoffs.
 
I definitely don't blame the Cats for dancing on our field after beating us in 2010, that was their third time beating us in WGS and then again in 2012... Doesn't happen often. But I agree, it's really stupid that some fans get all worked over when it happens. It's a rivalry. It's gonna happen, and it doesn't upset me one bit.

I wondered that same thing!! What is the excuse de jour? Were we stealing signs again? Dies we have a spy in their pregame meetings? Was Hauck hiding behind a couch?? :lol:

The team or players that complain about an "over celebration" on their home turf after a big win by the opposition always come out of it looking bad IMO. It's just "sour grapes". As a SD Chargers fan, I still believe that the great running back LT tarnished his reputation by whining
about the Patriots celebrating at mid-field a few years back. Game tape eventually showed that the celebration by the Patriots was very minor but LT made a big deal about it. The old "they disrespected us in our house" line of BS. To the winners, go the spoils. Get over it.
 
Bobcats are just more emotional, even musical, and sometimes they just get overwhelmed. They did "the age of Denarius", the "CATS" jingle. They feel victory deeply and losing even deeper. Sure, it's outputting, but we're stuck with them.
 
It pisses me off when the scats celebrate on the Griz field...but that's my problem, whoever wins earned that right in a rivalry this heated.
 
I liked how Minnesota players defended their goal post after the game against Wisconsin yesterday. You can see it a bit in the video in the link, but this is what happened.

"After the Badgers pretended to chop down one goal post, they started to cross the field toward the other end. The Gophers encircled the goalpost in front of their student section and refused to let the Badgers do it to the other one. There was some pushing and shoving, but the confrontation ended without incident.

"It's a pride thing," Nelson said.

Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen was the most vocal about the situation, saying he wasn't pleased with campus police getting involved and pushing the Badgers away from the fray.

"Do we want them down there, do we want to get in those situations? No, we don't want to get in those situations," Andersen said. "But you're supposed to carry yourself like an adult in those scenarios. I don't need somebody pointing a finger in my face when supposedly it's their job to take advantage of to protect and be the security for the stadium I suppose. It makes me mad."
