I Love Upsets!

Only indirectly related to the Griz ... but it works. Stay with me, now.

One reason I love college football is when a team that seems to have no chance pulls off the upset. (as long as it's not against my team :) .) Just finished watching Syracuse upset #2 Clemson.

The connection: If (when) Washington, currently #5, takes care of business at Arizona State, they will surely move into the top-four "championship bracket." Sure, there's plenty of football to be played ... but it's still pretty cool.

Syracuse played a helluva game for sure. It didn't help Clemson, though, that they lost their starting QB in the first half.

Yes, you always hate to see a guy go down. Might have mattered, but then maybe not ... or it might have been fated to happen. He was getting blasted a lot. Odd thing is, the take-down that put him out was totally legit and did not look like a monster hit. Goes to show ... you just never know.

Like to see Stitt put a couple of Syracuse wrinkles into his offense. Very similar overall strategy but loved the occasional use of a big bruiser FB type guy

Calhoun and Lee (and Jensen) have been bruising their way through defenses for the last couple of games.

Happened to look at the stats for this game. Syracuse out-gained Clemson 440 to 317 and dominated TOP 34:52 to 25:08. Syracuse ran 83 plays, Clemson 57. So Syracuse successfully played keep-away.

Oh cmon they are only 17 points down to an unranked team. Have em right where they want em.
Final 37-3 ... that's what happens when you give up 7 turn-overs. That's two top-ten teams (Waz State was #8) down even before Saturday. Gonna be some major shuffling in the FBS polls.

I saw that! At least the Coug fans weren't there to see the last couple!
