I sat with friends of old, friends of new.. Even a few Bobcats. Tyler Lulay lives in the area and by god if he isn't a nice kid.
Had just a great afternoon ..

While the outcome was far from what we wantedmwe all had a great time enjoying a great Montana tradition from afar...

Gotta say the following.
Thanks to the seniors for all your hard work for this program.
Underclass men... Learn from this season.
Coaches.. Get a clue one of these years.

Beware the Bear next year.. The Griz will awake from hibernation hungry and pissed off.

Cats.. Best of luck in the playoffs.. We'll be rooting for you..

Not if we have the same coaching staff....
No, not all of us will be rooting for the Cats.

Pure Class Act. I root for the Griz when they move on too.

Wow.... GGG long time... Hope all is well with wife and kids...

I also will be rooting for the Cats in the playoffs... There are a good number of "Montana" young men on the Cats so why not root for them. Both Griz and Cats are Montana critters...

A (self-described) former player, on another thread, did not want to put it all on the coaching staff -- and he's somewhat correct. However, coaching DOES matter, and this staff has not shown much improvement as they gained experience. (And that was reflected in the performance of the team.) Perhaps some time off to review film (video) will help -- but I'm not confident. The Griz will improve with this year of experience. Even with continued mediocre coaching, their record should also improve. But unless the staff also steps it up, I am not confident the team (coaches and players) will improve enough to compete for a championship and playoff spot.

By WE, I meant my family and myself.
I know there are obvious d-bags out there that can't take the high road and see the forest through the trees...

GGG, you're one of the good guys, and I, in no way, meant to dis you. I simply have never in my life rooted for the Cats and I never expect any of them to root for the Griz -- that's just me.

There was a couple (30ish years old) sitting in front of me today in section 110 that were bobcat fans and the husband towards the end starting chanting ESG NO means NO. Sorry GGG, that turns me off to ever root from that team anytime. I know you have to distinguish between the fans and players, but that is hard.

I had a blast today too...thought the Griz were going to pull it out until it went 16-7.

Cat-Griz is a great rivalry.

 GGG and Bear Spray - two of my faves on here. GGG, I thought you left eGriz a long time ago? I have only recently begun posting but used to read it a lot. Nice to see you back. I, too, will root for the Cats in the playoffs. And I, too, am not too shaken up by our mediocre season and trust that the players who need work/experience/practice - including the one I got so much grief for calling out - (as well as coaching staff) will have time to reflect and hone their skills for next fall.

Great posts. I had a blast yesterday (and into the wee hours of last night/this morning) with fellow Griz fans and Bobcat fans. We had good food, lots of mirth and merriment, some really fun bantering and an entertaining (to downplay it seriously) post-game night out on the town. I did have the "I wish I was in Missoula" nagging thoughts, but that is easily enough remedied. And count me in with those who choose to wish the Bobcats well for a strong playoff run. For me, there's something special about being a Montanan (I've been away from Montana since I graduated from UM, but that doesn't matter, it's in my blood and in my heart and always will be) and I have no qualms about rooting for Montana teams.

I took my fiance to her first brawl. She is from Cali originally, but has been in the state for nearly 20 years. She had a great time and just soaked in the atmosphere. Seeing it from her perspective allowed this native Montanan to appreciate the joy if the atmosphere rather than focus on just the game and the bitterness of both cat and griz fans around me. I had a great time, and just might go to bozeman for a playoff game. I doubt I will be a rabid supporter, but I certainly will not root against them.

I'll probably head down and watch a game....in full Griz gear.

Good post man. We sat with Cat fans on all sides - young and old(er) and all was cordial The guy next to me and I engaged in a little rival good-natured counter-cheering, but he was wondering where the PI and fumble calls were, and I had to admit that DM really has wheels. Could've gone for a better outcome (might have been easier if the beat us bad), but it was a fun day.
