Huse ?

I know this a Griz Forum, but I was curious on people's opinion when it comes to Brad Huse's future at MSU. The question I have right now is: Will he be let go right away if the Cats start out 0-5,6,7 in league play or will Fields make a decision after the season if the Cats finish with a losing record overall and in the BSC?

gone. end of season.

ironic. when krysko left, many here thought msu had pilfered from us the better coach, that tinks was the consolation prize. me? not sayin'!

time always shows us what we couldn't see at the time.

I was one of the guys who though MSU got the better deal. Oh well, I am glad I was wrong. :thumb:

What is Huse contract looking like? final year, or does he have another?

i see what you're saying but don't consider it "ironic". it was a guess many of us had and we were wrong. that'd be like saying it's ironic that many griz fans thought you'd have a playoff season this year. not so much. nothing more than a wrong prediction and i'm guilty as charged. i thought huse was going to be good. although i'm on record saying they should have kept durham around. kids liked playing for that guy and he had the support of the community for the most part. and i think had we just kept him we'd be leaps and bounds ahead of where we are today. :(

I was one. I liked Tinks, but thought Brad would turn out to be better.

Very glad to be wrong!!! I also hope Brad turns it around somehow. He is a good coach.

Sorry ilovethecats, but I respectfully disagree on Durham. One of the many reasons from what has been known on his forced exit was he wasn't popular with boosters, the community or a majority of his players. He wasn't actively fundraising like Fields and Pres. Gamble expeceted him to. He was socially awkward and standoffish to people along with sending his assistants out to community and fundraiser events in his place a little more than Fields was going to tolerate. You had Kramer out kissing babies and making the "new wave socialites" in Bozeman feel like Kings on the side. In the end off-court and off-field problems was what got both MD and MK booted.
I don't think theMSU MBB program would be better off, just because I think Durham doesn't want to work anymore and go with the grinds of college coaching either. Plus, he never showed he was a great X an O guy or motivator. His team's always had the rep of losing big leads. Now he's doing the "Alaska retirement/work move" until probably his last kid finishes H.S. and back to Bozeman to live off MT State retirement supplemented by AK vested retirement.
The one prop I'll give him is he didn't have the mass turnover of asst. that Huse has had. Reminds me of the VATech-Greenberg situation.

PR/marketing success is a huge part of bb coaches retention...obviously the won loss ratio counts big time but most of the time you just have to get along with boosters/media gurus....

tinks appears to have the right formula of pr, coaching ability, recruiting to win here and down the road somewhere else

I am certain I called you out on it, and gave you some friendly advice to stick with what you know, the concession stand. I have to hand it to you though citay, you have finally caught up a bit and are posting some good hoops info. Thank your wife for schooling you up, it is refreshing. :thumb:

double drivel.

Another cat player gone after Stewart was dismissed for uncited reasons.

Since the start of the 2010-’11 season, 11 players have left the MSU program for various reasons, among them dismissal, academic ineligibility or NCAA rules violations. That includes at least four walk-ons.

Ouch. I really like Brad. But those are ugly numbers.

I thought this section was pretty telling, too:

Huse welcomed nine new players to the roster in 2010, seven in 2011 and eight this season.

That's pretty crazy. Like a whole new team every year.
