Some of you know Hugh as head coach of the Griz 1964-66 and many will remember his presence in Hamilton and the Bitterroot Valley.

Hugh's wife of 70 years Jane recently passed, and just before her service yesterday, Hugh decided to join her. He was 93.

Hugh played at Colorado, had a coaching stint at UM and a lifelong connection to the Elways, which was pivotal as he scouted for the Denver Broncos for decades.

Sorry to hear the news. I remember him well. I was manger of the football team when he was the OC before being named HC. Good guy!!

Very sad, he was a really good guy and has nice family. Three great daughters. He was always cool to me as a kid and our families were good friends. He brought me back a program from the 1978 super bowl. It was Denver and Dallas during his Bronco scouting days. I still have the program. He was fun to chat football recruiting with. He would always just shake his head about my thoughts on college football recruiting.
I was certain that he was also the Idaho State Head Football Coach at one time. I saw pictures of him in his den with the ISU fotball team, but I couldn't figure out what years those were.. I will miss him and Jane.

Hugh was an assistant at ISU 1970-71. His only college head coaching experience was at Montana and it wasn't pretty.

Ok thanks for that. He spoke of the ISU years fondly. Hugh was obviously a great person. He was a stud late into his life and a pretty good golf stick. I had not seen him in years now but am certainly sad that he is gone.
