I would like to be in a film room when opposing coaches are preparing to school the Griz's coaching staff. It must be exciting for them to know exactly what to expect and exploit. Must be about as simple for them as taking candy from a baby.

It's like their playbook is about as complex as the old Tecmo Bowl games when there were only 6 plays to choose from. Except for the wildcat, that is newer yet has proven to be about as effective as solving an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. That series sort of helped stall the offense IMO.

I was curious about that wildcat play they kept running. I don't think I've seen it run like that with the QB motioning from the pistol immediately before the snap. The biggest benefit to the wildcat is that there are 10 blockers instead of 9 like when a QB normally hands the ball off. The way they were running it yesterday was 9 blockers on 11 defenders like a traditional handoff. But with a traditional handoff at least the defense has to stay home and respect the play action. The play they were running allowed the D to sell out to stop the run right off the bat while only having to deal with 9 blockers.

They must have had some trick play pass back to JJ they were trying to set up with that play. If not it's a bit of a head-scratcher.

He also mentioned multiple times how our DE's were constantly streaking upfield and basically taking themselves out of the play and opening up all kinds of lanes for the QB to scramble. He said it was basically 11 on O versus 10 players on D on a lot of plays. More of a DE contain technique versus a mobile QB would have been nice in retrospect.

Dude. That is nothing new. Our defensive line has not been gap sound except for maybe the MSU game. Our ends haven't set the edge all year.
