How many times?

And we SHOULD have the "Big Sky coach of the year"

- By the way when is that decided? I think Krysto deserves it, taking almost the same guys that Kennedy couldn't beat Sentinel with and winning the 'Sky.

Winning the Big Sky Conference is legitimate success. Go ask the seven other members how bad they wanted to win it. Heck, go ask Notre Dame if they'd like an automatic bid after the last couple of years.

If you really can't see how this program is getting better, or can't understand how winning a D-I conference is a success, I don't know what to say. It shouldn't have to be explained. You entered a year of competition and you just finished on top. That's every team's goal. Be better than the other teams you compete against.

Ray Giacoletti won it five days after EWU won the tournament last year. I would expect it Monday probably.

How does one get particularly excited over an early exit from the NCAA Tournament? Is this what a team plays for all season? Watching this current Griz basketball team was not a prescription to excitement!
In watching Gonzaga, I see some excitement for a program on its way up!
In watching the game with Weber State, I didn't see anything approaching an exciting team, but one that said to itself, "Well I guess we can win it if we try half-hard!" Half hard is about all I saw too.!
Is the Griz future on the way up too? I just don't see it!
You people in the know on this board tell me I am wrong & how wrong and why!

cluelessinmt - This team was very exciting to watch this year. I'm sure the majority of people who actually watched them this year would agree. You watched Gonzaga? Hey, know what? The Griz used to beat Gonzaga not too long ago. Gonzaga didn't just all of a sudden appear at the top. It took work. Their team worked their way up towards the top much like this Griz BB program hopefully will. Going to the NCAA tournament is definitely a step in the right direction & any Griz fan should be excited that the Griz are in this tournament.

Will it be a early exit? Possibly, but then again, maybe not. There are quite a few upsets each year in the NCAA tournament.

So you watched the game against Weber State and say that it wasn't a exciting game, or a exciting team to watch, and that the Griz tried 'half-hard'? Are you sure you weren't watching a LifeTime movie or something? Because it sure doesn't sound like you were watching the same basketball game that I was. The game that I saw was very exciting and the Griz busted their asses to win this game. Hell I got the game on tape (since I was at work when it was on) and most likely will watch it again.

How can you say that the Griz program isn't on its way up? They have some very good players coming back next year, and have 2 true FRESHMAN contributing a ton this season. The recruits they have for next year look to be great. The Griz BB program definitely is on its way up & the future looks bright thanks to Kennedy's recruits & Krysko's coaching & recruits.

One other thing Puzzled..you never did explain that quote Montana Gym Rat found where you said ".............I'd be voting strictly for MSU, & their Class Coach - the CLASS of the BIG SKY CONFERENCE! FRIZZLIES ARE THE DISGRACE OF THE BSC!"

Interesting...

You are spouting ridiculous statements.

Do you know how many kids and how hard each of them have worked just to get a chance to play in this tournament you are referring to?

Don't diminish a bunch of drive and work, just because you can't find the excitement and pride in it. That's your problem, and quite frankly, I'm guessing nobody wants to hear about it.

A one-game tournament of one and out is really exciting! I am about to jump out of my skin, I'm so excited!

If this were the conference of the Deaf & Dumb, it would be an achievement, but its just the Big Sky Conference, a conference going nowhere in basketball.

I guess if your achievements in life are of grade school caliber, then this is indeed a remarkable achievement.

Puzzld,

Hey, being a one and done does suck, but look at what we've done this year!!! We're a minor school, in an unknown conference, yes, but we WON THE BIG SKY!!! Coach K proved that good coaching can turn the very same team around and win the 'Sky. This year we'll add another trophy to the UM hall of fame, and next year we will be the defending BIG SKY CHAMPIONS in Men's basketball!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way the system works in NCAA BBAll, we stand no chance, but hey, what Griz fan is not smiling tonight???

Also...WE BEAT THE CATS when it mattered!! We sent them home, the team, their fans on the charter busses and all! Also we silenced all the cat fans cheering for Weber 2nite!!! How great is that!!! Let's stay optomistic here. What a GREAT FINISH!!!

--Sorry, a little too much wine at a wine tasting I went to 2nite.

Go Griz

Yours was an excellent rebuttle. Thanks.

After all, I should really be happy, considering the fact that Montana won, and re finally got rid of Dan Rather, in the same day!

You can get excited about an early exit from the NCAA tournament because that means you are one of the 65 best teams in the nation.

Just because we make it to the dance doesn't necessarily mean we are one of the 65 best in the country. We get an automatic bid, however I don't believe there are teams from the Pac-10, ACC, Big East, etc. that won't make the tourney that would probably make short work of us on the court.

Shroyer did take PSU from worst to first, but I agree, Coach K gets the nod.
Durham @ MSU did a great job this year as well - picked to finish last, etc. Any of the 3 would be deserving.

I don't read this far down in pointless-going-nowhere threads too often but who is puzzledinmt? Seriously, if I don't like something I usually waste less than a few minutes on it. This was definately an educational experience in message board posting. I thank you for that puzzledinmt.

Recent quotes from puzzledinmt:

"How does one get particularly excited …"
"Was not a prescription to excitement!"
"I didn't see anything approaching excitement"
"Somehow I have never understood the excitement ….."
"…I'm so excited (sarcasm)
"I don't really see any reason for excitement"
"Wow, I am so overwhelmingly impressed!" (sarcasm)

Lay off puzzledinmt, folks. Even I thought these comments were a broken record until I realized that puzzledinmt hears them every night from his girlfriend.
