How many spots do we drop? Still in the top 20?

Yes I know worrying about rankings before the season even begins is a fool's errand, but really how bad is this loss. Thankfully it was on ESPN+ so virtually no one saw the game. But if anyone did and saw how porous the O-line is, how paniced Snead was, and how our secondary got shredded they might not even vote us into the top 25.

Get over it.

If one loss (on the road, at that) was such a disaster, there wouldn't be any top-25. As of right now, losers include #8 Wofford, #9 Samford , #10 Villanova, #15 Montana, #20 NAU, #23 UC-Davis, and #25 Rhode Island. Also, #5 SHSU, #13 Nicholls, #18 Central Arkansas, and #22 South Dakota are all losing at the moment.

I'll be doing my first "poll guesses" tomorrow, after all the results are in. My "preliminary guess" is that the Griz will drop to about #20. But with so many ranked teams looking not-so-hot, the poll voting could go absolutely crazy ... but likely not enough to drop the Griz out of the top-25.

Certainly won't drop out, although I see some of the teams you mentioned will. Still room for us for certain. After last week I wasn't sure we deserved to be where we were. After today's game and catching bits of many others I think 20 sounds about right.

Can Huck continue his top 25 streak at this level? I believe so, possibly through the whole season.

Don't get me wrong. We aren't great but come to find out many of the other top 25s aren't either.

While I was unaware of so many others losing I agree that we will likely end up somewhere between #20 and #25. We did not play a great game and really should have won it. Penalties are what really took us out of the game. Beyond that GO GRIZ!

Anybody recall last week? Such as:
Samford upset Florida State (not a good FBS ... but still). Today they lost at home to Mercer (weak, 5-6 record last year).
Villanova upset FBS Temple (which today beat previously undefeated Maryland). Today 'Nova lost to Towson (also 5-6 last year).
NAU beat feeble UTEP and stayed close at EWU last week. They went on the road today and got clobbered by Missouri State (which won only 3 games last year).

Absolutely crazy stuff ... and it's what makes college football so much fun. :)

Get over it? The thread is titled out of top 20. You think fall to about #20. They went in #15 lost to an unranked team (that the Scats who are not even in top 25 beat). I think that means they dont deserve to be a top 20 team.

I like your analysis but Florida State won that game. As hard as it is to say as a Miami fan.

They sure did. I meant to say they almost got that upset, thinking about how deep into the game Samford led. Got carried away and failed to fix it what with all the games I was trying to watch/follow. But the point still holds that a team that hung with a decent FBS team then got upset by an unranked team they should have beat easily, especially at home. That's college football. (Ain't it great!)

Yes sir, I agree with you. You do a great job. I drove home after our game flipping between the Florida state game and scats game.

I don’t know how far we drop, but I believe this game is going haunt us later on in the year if we are able too pull it together and end up in playoff contention.
