How many Griz would go to Wyoming??

I was wondering how many GRIZ faithful would travel to Cheyenne next year? The current capacity is 32,580 after the completion of 2009-2010 stadium upgrades. Most FBS games I have been to (Oregon at USC, Kansas St at Texas, Iowa at Nebraska, Nebraska at Iowa St) 1/3 to 1/4 of the stadium were visiting team fans. This would be the grand experiment if the Montana GRIZ could get 6500-10,000 fans to Wyoming. It would probably be the closest FBS teams to Montana's own caliber excluding WSU(to powerful Pac-12)) Idaho (16,000 seat Kibbie Dome) Montana, I think could then be a FBS player regionally! However, I don't know how tickets Wyoming will be giving to Montana???

I go to one game a year down there. Unfortunately I have to go for the POKES :). It sounds like they just recently install some new turf (their old turf was only like 5-6 years old I think?

When Nebraska played there 2 years ago about 1/2 the stadium was RED. Their fans found ways to get tickets. It was 50/50.

Half of the stadium definitely wasn't red.. though, a lot of Nebraska kids attend UW.. and there was a lot of red in the student section. The capacity isn't 32,580, it's 29,181, the last upgrades actually took a few seats away to put in the new suites. New turf goes in this summer:

Willie and I are planning a Laramie road trip for this game with our sideline passes.

When did the University of Wyoming relocate? :coffee:

It would depend on the date (ie... competing activities with our kids). Though I would definitely like to drive down for that one. It is a fair distance yet almost entirely on Interstate highways.

Sorry grizindabox, I guess that shows my' lack of pure interest with entire state of Wyoming besides Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. Yes its in Laramie, not Cheyenne which is a close drive. Hopefully a lot of Griz alumi from the Denver area make it there!!

...cheyenne iz the rodeo...
...30 foot bulldogging score...
...the grand daddy of em' all...

... 8-) ...

Denver area Griz fans will be a helluva lot more enthused about going to Laramie than they are going to Greeley for a game with UNC and its high school atmosphere. I went to the last UM-UW game and would probably go again. Can't recall the Griz QB from Hawaii, but he floated a pass into the flat that turned into a pick six served up to a Cowboy corner - from Billings. Very competitive game except for that boo boo...

Brian Ah Yat. Two Columbus starters in that game; Brian Brown for Wyoming and Greg Fitzgerald for the Griz.

We'll be there; waited way too long for this one. We need our first win against Wyoming bad. 0-13 makes for a lot of heatburn when you live close to WY.

It would be nice if we could make the Wyoming game a regular thing played for something important to the host community, like bottled water for Laramie, or maybe color. If the game ever made it to Missoula, deodorant might be a nice touch.

1/3 to 1/4 of the stadium at FBS games for visiting fans? You high? There were MAYBE 1,000 Penn State fans out of 105,000+ at the Ohio State vs Penn State game in 2011 when I was there.

Just don't see much blue in there...

I think Wyoming gives out like 5000 tickets for visiting fans.. the only teams that come close to using their allotment are Boise and back in the day, BYU. Nebraska and Texas brought TONS of fans to the games in Laramie, but their fanbases are some of the best and biggest.

it depends on the number of elk carcasses. the more of them, the more griz. geddes will probably get there first, and be one of the last to leave.
