How Great Has the Stitt Era started?

Let's just say, when has there been so little bitching and complaining on egriz during and after a GRIZ game? Hell, even the trolls and arm chair QB's are silent on EGRIZ. It does not get better than that. :thumb:

It's pretty hard to not be happy with that opening day performance. The attacking style of Stitt's offense will be exciting to watch this season. If the only post game complaint on egriz remains to be a discussion about choosing to attempt the late FG instead of going for the TD on 4th and 11, the banter on egriz will be subdued for most of the season....

Definitely a great start and it is exciting to see the potential of this offense. The Griz have not had that for a few years. It was just one, non-conference game, but things are definitely looking brighter!

Indeed, if debating over going for it or taking a FG is the biggest debate, you have to feel damn good about the game. I'd take that every game. Hard to believe, nobody with legitimate complaints about the offense, or a defense giving up 35 points, and fans being content. Speaking of defense, I doubt the GRIZ defense gives up that many points again this season. Nice thing is, we finally have a staff with the offense needed to win a high scoring affair, if needed. Hard to believe, this offense is just in it's infancy. I sure in the hell did not expect them to do as well as they did against NDSU.

I also have a feeling NDSU's defense will continually improve, they are pretty inexperienced on defense.

We had what, 550 yards plus against UNDSU? Their defense is not what it was the last four years, period.

I prefer to think, the GRIZ actually have a high quality offense this season. :thumb:

Yes, we have a high quality offense led by a positive, enthusiastic coach. Kudos to Kent Haslam to have the wisdom and courage to hire Stitt.

Well, it is interesting to ponder how closely this game matched, statistically, Coach Stitt's averages last year at Mines:
It certainly worked well last year – his squad averaged 39 points and 520 yards on 90 plays per game last season – and you’re sure to hear more about #StittHappens in the years to come.

I suggest we let Stitt do the coaching as long as he wins. There is a new view of offensive that says giving up the ball does not score points. This means there will be less punts and more offence. Saw on tv a high school coach say he never punts. He wins state championships. We need to let the coach teach us what means. Forget the old theories we learned. We are in a new football age for the Griz.

I am very excited about that game but we have another tough game this weekend. I remember when we beat App State the first game and thought we were world beaters only to discover that they were not near as solid as we thought. I am NOT saying that NDSU is weaker than we thought but it was only one game. Another performance and solid win over Cal Poly will certainly solidify what this team is capable of doing. My 2 cents.

I can't remember how long it's been to see this many actual football threads at once. It's a relief to be able to just focus on having good debates again. As you pointed out it used to be an occasional football post followed by a bunch of douche, for once it's the opposite. As for the game, most of the debate I see is how close this comes to the 2009 App. St. game, the greatest game ever played in Wa-Griz. Not too shabby of an opening!

I questioned the field goal at the end and not punting toward the end of the first half. Turns out, I don't know much about coaching football. I'm all in with this guy. I'll just bite my lip and keep the Tums nearby.
