turns out, the team that beat us in the ncaa tournament was good indeed. sean williams and jared dudley were both first round picks in this year's nba draft. dudley went for 20 against us, and while williams did not score, he did grab six rebounds and play intimidating defense. another of their front-line players, craig smith, torched us for 22 points and 16 rebounds. overall, they out-rebounded us 44-29.
still, it was their perimiter game that did us in. first half we shot four for eight three-pointers, while they were shooting two for six. but second half, they went six for eleven while we were just three for twelve, a difference of nine points.
i'm hoping this year's jaycee recruits can improve our outside shooting and perimiter defense. those were glaring weaknesses last year, and the ones that are the first to show up in the ncaa tournament.
