How good is NDSU?

Everyone has to admit their 51-14 win over Poly, including 51 unanswered points is startling. I thought Poly was a very good team last week. I for one, think they are probably the best team in IAA this year. I'm glad they aren't eligible for the playoffs.

We're somewhere in the top five....at least. There is a feeling of rejection that a lot of Bison fans haven't gotten over regarding UNC being chosen over NDSU to join the Big Sky. Bison fans, with a brain, see Montana as a guidepost or a standard...thusly the comparisons relating to the scores against Cal Poly. I'd take it as a compliment. Montana is one of the elite I-AA programs. For me, I wanted the Big Sky for NDSU because the games with Montana and MSU would have been HUGE, CLASSIC rivalry games on a yearly basis.

The Bison fans that I know have nothing but respect for the Griz, but we are also amazed by this year's Bison team. Frankly, we've never seen anything like it. There is a string of amazing players on the field, starting with Steve Walker at quarterback. He's the real deal. Steffes, Frick, Humber, Mayes, Dahl, and others will go down as some of the best players in Bison history...which is saying a lot.

We 'will not' claim a mythical championship...but we are frustrated with the 5-year probationary period while we have this amazing team. Please don't blame us for being more than a little enthused.

I 'do' apologize for the idiots that come here to 'smack' Montana. You have your idiots...and we have ours.

Good luck to the Griz in the playoffs. And congratulations on building such a great program.

As for playing the Griz in the future...it would be fun...but there's no hard feelings from this corner. It's not personal. It would just be fun to see it happen because I believe that it would be a great game most years....and an 'off the chart' atmosphere. Isn't that what football is about?

Finally...if we beat SDSU soundly next Saturday, I do believe that we belong in the top 2 or 3 in I-AA polls. But the playoff champion definitely should be ranked #1. Bison fans certainly understand what playoffs are...and how difficult they are. It's a new season. We'd just like to be a part of it. Please try to understand the frustration. We feel that we would have a good shot at making some real noise. It's not logical. We're not eligible. Our enthusiasm has overtaken our logic.

Ditto. They are a great team. If NDSU were in the BSC instead of UNC, it would be a better conference because of better fan support, cross-state rivalries, etc.

Big mistake by the BSC, IMO.

Please don't view NDSU fans as hyper-snobs because of a few idiots that come here....or even more than a few. I don't know. Most Bison fans have nothing but respect for the Griz program. We view it as one of the elite programs in I-AA.

Yes, there is frustration in Bison country over the probationary period...and having what we view as a great team. You probably remember years when the Griz have had that 'special' blend of talent, coaching, and chemistry. We've had it in Fargo this year.

Prediction: The Bison will trounce the Rabbits. It will be similar to the Cal Poly game. I could be wrong....but man....the Bison are one special team. They have a perfect balance of power, speed, athleticism, smarts, great coaching, and an attitude of no fear. Steve Walker is the real deal at quarterback. He is a coach on the field with Houdini-like skills. He's amazing. If you saw them...you'd be in awe.

Good luck to the Griz in the playoffs. I'll be cheering....with a few tears in my eyes....wishing that we could be there too.

The thing I like about this Bison team is when they have been behind, they come back fast and furious. When they were down 24 to UC Davis they bounce back and score 28 unanswered, then down 14 to Cal Poly they come back to score 51 unanswered.

The coaches have done a great job. Also, very few penalties compared to previous years.

The Griz are a great program and one that NDSU is trying to become like. The playoffs thing is frustrating, but also trying to get quality teams to come to the Fargodome.

You would get testy too if every message board you browsed had NDSU fans taking isht about your team. I've went from an NDSU fan and wanting them in the sky, to really not caring what they do, and rooting against them.
I just checked out the cal poly board, and once again ran into NDSU fans, spreading the word that the Griz are scared to play them and coaxing CP fans into saying the same.
I'm all for NDSU tooting their own horn, they are good. I prefer seeing good teams being humble, but that's just one person's opionion, I know everybody has fans who aren't going to go the humble route. But having to read posters trash the Griz on boards all over the place, I do get a little defensive and P.O.ed.
My "Wheaties" don't need pissed in.
Plus, Wyo, thru no fault of any NDSU fan, I'm in a pissy mood this week. My appologies.
