How does Jensen's first game as a starter...

...compare with Super Dave's? As a redshirt freshman with little game experience, Jensen did well. Especially against a tough team & not a defensive patsy.

Anyone know what Dickenson's stats were his first game as a starter?

Dickenson finished the game 27-of-39 for 401 yards with four touchdown passes, and two rushing touchdowns. None of the scores were bigger than the game-winner to Gurnsey, who finished with eight catches for 118 yards.

In other words, Gresch was not even close

He also wasn't playing against a DII team.

True. Neither did DD though. SDSU was DII I believe and now are FCS. SDSU was good then. They could have competed against most FCS teams and lead 38-7 at half. Sorry, Gresch was solid for a Sophmore, but DD was magic.

Yeah I realized that after I hit send and corrected it.

This was somewhat touched on in the Brooks thread re OU, which is an awesome link btw. I don't think this article is right. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought wilberger started sdsu and the OU game. But Super Dave shined so bright in those games that he got his first start afterwards vs ISU and wilberger didn't start again until the injury...???

Dave started but was pulled after the first couple of series then started the second half and never looked back.
