Hauck on Patrick Rohrbach, K/P from Kalispell Glacier: "Pat came to our specialists camp and was just terrific. Kicking off, kicking, and punting it, he's the best guy I've seen in Montana in a long, long time."

Watched him 4-5 times this year. Seems like a great kid and bombed punts. Pretty impressive and he may get a chance to punt this fall, unless they bring in someone out of the portal to give him a chance to put some weight on!

After watching Capser kick last week there is clearly no one who can compete with him at placekicker and kickoff. He took that medical redshirt this year and it looks like he hit the weight room hard. Bigger and deeper than Macias.

I’m not a specialist guy, but it appears the Griz are going to be dominating on the special teams side of the ball. Hoping Sulser can make it back and he and Flowers do their damage!

And these comments are surprisingly, how?

Well, UM did just have a Montana kid transfer that was awarded for his punting.

So you expect the coach to praise the kid who left instead of the kid who is coming next?

I give Hauck more credit for organizational leadership.

More that his praise is cutting down the one who just shit on the program in the process of walking out the door….kind of a win/win for Bobby.

I just found it interesting that he specifically added that Rohrbach was the best he has seen in Montana. The timing is something.

Maybe just maybe he is better than the kid going to Nebraska and there is no ill intent hmmmmmmmmm

The kid going to Nebraska said as much too. That thw new guy is better than he was at that age.

I think Bobby knows special team players better then everyone on this forum! He has had some great kickers in his coaching career, I believe he knows talent! Dan Carpenter ring a bell?

I think what is left out of the discussion...or at least that I have not seen yet...was his comment at the press conference about not recruiting kids already on the team. "They have already been recruited once". Then something like...if they go...goodbye, good riddance. I actually laughed outloud and my 15 year old daughter asked if i was watching a funny TikTok. I was like...Yeah, I watch that $&!%...

Yep that was pretty epic. He was not mincing words. He is obviously pretty frustrated with this entire transfer portal and how this Buschini deal went down. He was bringing it.

Zen, there is a fine line between 'brevity is clarity' and being a (an) _______. Wide left, yes, I was there. Here is what happened, and who Dan Carpenter is/was, for those uninformed or too damn young to have experienced his play:

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -- Michael Hobbs scored on a 6-yard run with 32 seconds remaining Saturday to give Wofford a 23-22 victory over previously unbeaten Montana in the first round of the FCS playoffs.

Third-seed Montana (11-1) had a chance to win the game on a 47-yard field goal with 4 seconds remaining, but Dan Carpenter pulled the kick left.

Carpenter enrolled at the University of Montana, and became the placekicker for the Montana Grizzlies football team as a true freshman in 2004.[1] He went 18-for-29 (62.1 percent) on field-goal attempts while converting all 63 extra-point tries.[1] Carpenter also rushed twice for 17 yards and scored a touchdown.[2] His 123 points that season were the second-highest total in school history, and his performance earned him a second-team All-Big Sky selection.[1]

As a sophomore in 2005, Carpenter went 14-for-21 (66.7 percent) on field-goal attempts and punted nine times for a 41.4-yard average. on the way to his second straight second-team All-Big Sky selection.[1][2] His streak of 67 consecutive extra points made dating back to his freshman season was snapped in the 2005 season opener against Fort Lewis.[1]

Carpenter earned his third straight All-Big Sky selection as a junior in 2006, receiving second-team honors as a placekicker as well as being an honorable mention as a punter.[1] Additionally, he was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press. On the season, he converted 24 of 30 field goals (80 percent) with four blocked and punted 62 times for a 41.9-yard average.[1]

Carpenter had the most efficient season of his career as a senior in 2007, converting 19 of 23 field goals (82.6 percent).[2] His performance earned him his fourth-straight All-Big Sky selection and second straight All-America selection.[3]

In his four years at Montana, Carpenter converted on 75 of 103 field goals (72.8 percent) and punted 71 times for a 41.8-yard average.[2] He also passed once for 14 yards, rushed twice for 17 yards and a touchdown, caught one pass for two yards and made seven solo tackles.[2]

To boot, the is a very nice dude in person. Very humble and unassuming. I got to bullshit with him for a half hour at the fair about three years ago. Total Griz ST legend.
