"Nope. Not true. I visited with Lex last night at the Mo Club and he informed me that he is no longer with the Dolphins, and recently signed with the Vikings. We then talked with the bartender and we all agreed that most of you here are idiots that probably never played the game at the collegiate level like Lex and I. I then waived the $475 an hour I charge for my time, and wished Lex the best of luck."

Rather than start a new thread about Lex, I dragged in this old one. Lex seems to have a decent shot at sticking (#3 back, right now) -- because of his blocking and special teams skills, as well as some key injuries.

The key item about Lex

Poor Jordan Todman. The second-year running back is running out of time to show that he deserves to make this team. Todman has been hindered by a sprained ankle for a week now. And while he continues to try to tough through the pain, he's not healthy enough to do much work. Todman was in full pads Monday and did some light work early. But he did not participate in any of the team scrimmage sessions. With Adrian Peterson returning to practice, Toby Gerhart continuing to excel and Lex Hilliard tightening his grip on the No. 3 job, Todman's frustration is growing. Said Frazier: "He’s one of those guys we want to be out there. We know it. But it’s just one of those things. It’s football. It happens. It’s out of his control and we’ll have to try to balance it as we try to make a decision about what guys to keep. But it’s tough when you’re in his spot."

got a lot of touches last night and should see quality time this week too. i had him beating out todman anyway but this certainly helps. and with AP's health still a question, and toby being toby, i think lex is going to have a great opportunity on contributing on a team that is young and rebuilding.

I'm hoping something happens and he ends up on my Raiders. They got rid of the only healthy back they have. 2 of the 3 backs are out with injuries and McFadden hasn't played a whole season yet. Lex would definitely get some carries there.

LOL my son played against Lex in HS also and said he was a load to tackle. Shawn Lebsock is another one he said was a load to bring down.

vikings cut lex today. i was pulling for him but he basically was in a head to head battle with jordan todman for 3rd back and todman had over a hundred yards and a td last night. it was pretty even throughout but it seemed like the games todman played (he missed some camp and preseason with injury) he played just a hair better than lex. will be interested if they pick him up on their practice squad.

No mention of a practice squad position. My guess is, if Lex does not make the practice squad, his NFL run is over for awhile -- too many good, but not great, RBs out there. ya they released him this afternoon too. very surprising in my opinion. i was pulling for lex cause he's a montana guy but i really thought it was todman's job to lose. i'm assuming this is going to be a stupid move because i'm a vikes fan and know that stupid moves are primarily what they make....

I haven't read a Minnesota team blog but it seems bizarre that they would cut two running backs, particularly with Peterson's status still a question. I know they have Gebhardt but who else did they keep at that position?
