1. Congrats to Sentinel for #1 seed in the West. Played a great game tonight against Capital. Ben Roberts played a great game against Matt Miller. Both he and Miller had incredible dunks. Miller's was good, but Roberts's was a pure power dunk coming down the lane.

2. The East should dominate AA at State. The West just doesn't have the size or depth this year. But you never know in tournament time.

3. Rocky Boy is loaded in B. They will be very tough to beat. Interestingly, 6'7" stud just became eligible to play in time for tournaments for them. Weird.

4. Basketball has changed. They let basketball players get away with so much contact anymore. It is a much different game than it used to be. However, with the increased contact, it seems that the level of officiating has gone down significantly. There is absolutely no consistency in what is called, and what isn't. It seems as the level of officiating is far below what it used to be.

5. I couldn't make an 8th grade team these days.

Just got home from the Laurel/Central game. What an ending. Laurel made a two to tie and then Central came down and made a 3 as the buzzer sounded to win. Laurel could not make a free throw to save their lives. Central wasn't much better. This game was fun and exciting as both defenses came to play. Nothing like a huge rivalry for the championship. Laurel beat Central the two previous matchups this season. First one came in 5 over times so you can tell these teams are very evenly matched. I think Central has now won 3 Eastern A tournaments in a row. Last time Laurel won was in 1999. Should've been 2001 but we choked. Now Laurel has to play Glendive in the play in game. Laurel shouldn't have any trouble but you never know.

My only complaint about this game was the refs. I am a Laurel fan and I think Central got screwed on quite a few calls. Refs called charges on 3 Central possessions in a row. I think only 1 of them was an actual charge. The other two should've been no calls. I think Central had 9 fouls and Laurel has 6 fouls in the first quarter alone! Both of these teams are very physical on defense and like to drive to the basket. I think the refs needed to take a step back and let them play a little. Other than that it was an enjoyable game to watch. Just wish Laurel could've pulled it out.

Drummond loses to Circle in the 1st game at Class C. Down by 11 or so, came back to take the lead by 1 and lost by 3.

Ugly game. Both teams shot 29-30% 1st half and 12 & 13 turnovers. Didn't see final stats but it wasn't pretty.

Who is the RB 6'7 RB player? I just watched them play, and they didn't have anyone close to 6'7. Their tallest guy was #40, and I think he was 6'5. He was a decent player, but certainly wasn't a difference maker yesterday against Shepard.

Schildt? or something like that. I haven't watched them this year. Just heard about them. He was compared to AJ Fish that played for Browning a couple of years ago, but bigger.

Maybe an exaggeration?

I think that's the name of the kid I saw. He's pretty active on defense and on the boards, but doesn't have much of a shooting touch around the rim...definitely nowhere close to DJ Fish.

However, it always makes for some controversy when a kid is suddenly eligible to play when tourney time rolls around. You don't see that happening at a lot of schools.

DJ Fish. That was him. He was great to watch. Very long and fluid on the court.

Things are probably above-board with this kid. Just a lot of raised eyebrows about it.

Congrats Laurel! Only 1 loss to a Class A school all year. First Boys Basketball State Championship in a long time! :thumb:  :thumb:

Big Congrats to Laurel!

I thought these Browning boys were ready to take the mountain again.
Always next year.... for a fan.

Had Laurel won a championship since their days in the "Big 32"? Seems like they came close, but hadn't done it.

Last boys basketball championship was in 1972. Last of 4 straight I think. So only took 38 years to win another one. Should've won it in 2001 but we choked :(
