High expectations for Kennedy's Griz

I'm pretty excited too - IMO this could be one of the best Griz teams in a long time. The schedule isn't too sexy, but there are some good if not well known teams and if we manage to win 20 games and the BSC we should have a pretty good RPI, and maybe get a decent seed - listen to me I'm worried about getting a decent seed in the Big Dance already - way ahead of myself.

However if we are going to be a sweet 16 team this is how you do it - schedule teams you can play with but will up your RPI and win your conference every year for 4 years so you are in the tournament and well known back East, (even move out of the West bracket :o ) then you can get a 9 or 10 seed which gives you the chance to win out of the first round and makes some noise.

I would say so GrizBeer. I would like to win a chipper first, build a year to year program, etc. Hogan's dream of the sweet sixteen is way down the road I have to believe. A pleasant thought, but way down the road. I'm still hurting over losing Henkel to Eastern Washington. Although, I'm still trying to figure out why he would go there.

I wish we wouldn't have lost Henkle also. I think I read on this board last year that the Griz expected him to Walk on and EWU offered a full ride. I can't imagine it would have been the money as much as the pride that made his decision, but what's done is done. Just need to make sure we don't lose any more good ones from Montana.

Also it looks like EWU will have a really good recruting class this year from the press I have seen, so maybe it was a good decision. Maybe in 2 or 3 years he will be able to win EWU first BSC championship (I hope not), but I would guess that if the Eagles have a good year Giacoletti will be picked up by somebody (he was rumored to be a strong candidate at WSU) and Eastern will be right back to rebuilding in Henkle's junior year.

From the impecable timing files, the Missoulian is reporting today that Jordan Hasquet from Sentinel will sign with the Griz this fall. This is big for Montana both from the talent view as well as signaling a committment to get the best Montana kids.

I watched him play several times this summer and I will tell you he has improved immensly even from last year. His foot speed has improved and his overall playmaking is much better. He is now much more than a standstill shooter. That is good for the Griz and I'm happy for him.

Rebuilding year? Are you forgetting we have the best winning percentage in the Big Sky over the last four years? Our team will be even better than last year's, which went to the NIT. Who is this Henkle guy? I haven't heard of him, is he any good?
