Saw this a few days ago but no one's posted it. Good for Matt, I have high hopes for a great senior season from him.

Last season Hermanson was the Grizzlies' second leading tackler with 107, including 53 solo stops. He tied for the team lead with three forced fumbles and in fumble recoveries with two. He was ranked 13th in the Big Sky Conference averaging 8.9 tackles a game, which ranked him 51st in the FCS. He was a second team all-league selection.

The initial watch list includes 38 returning defenders, vying for the top defensive back award in the FCS. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.

Last season linebacker Jordan Tripp earned the CFPA Elite Linebacker Award, while cornerback Trumaine Johnson earned the CFPA Elite Defensive Back Award in 2011. Twenty-eight CFPA winners have been first-round NFL Draft selections.

I agree. Good for him for making this list. I don't know enough about football to be able to separate the player from the system but he always seems to be just on the brink of becoming a true star and hasn't really gotten there. I hope he dominates his senior year, I would hate for him to finish and be one of those coulda, woulda, shoulda athletes.

Part of what makes him very good and an all-conference level player is because he understands the system so well and knows how play to the maximum within the system.

I really enjoyed watching him play last season. His injury his sophomore season must have been been worse than we heard. Here is to a great season this year.
