Here Comes the Big Green

With a win over Penn tonight, Dartmouth will move into the top 25. May not last, but what the heck. Wins over Holy Cross, who beat UNH (3-1), and Stetson. Penn had been undefeated, against weak teams, and had racked up big offense. Not tonight.

Thanks in advance for all the nice compliments.

Hell of a game ... even though offense was lacking (final was 16-13).

Of the games that started at a reasonable time, it turned out to be the best. And, of course, it was the only FCS game on. For those who missed it, it literally came down to the last play. Dartmouth started from their own 20 yard line and pounded (slowly) down the field to the Penn 2 yard line (first and goal). Lookin' good. But ... in three plays they gained roughly 5 feet-11 inches. :o Time-out Dartmouth to stop the clock with 3 sec left. Chip-shot FG to force OT, right? Nope, punched it in with no time on the clock. Sure, it was 4th and maybe an inch, but it was still a gutsy call ... considering those previous three plays that got mostly stuffed.

As for making it into the top-25, I'm not so sure on that. In the last poll, D only got 17 votes ... half as many as Holy Cross, BTW. (Just goes to show how crazy the poll voting is.) And Penn had only 27 votes. So I'm not sure even a 3-0 record will do it.

Way to break my heart, Ida. Ha. Dartmouth used a sophomore 6'4",230 backup qb in wildcat for all or most of the last drive, and at other times. 11 carries for 71, and the game winner.

Former CMR and Griz recruit, Andrew Grinde, is a frosh backup running back for Yale. Looks like there are one or two good players in front of him.

This former Davis coach is now Dartmouth's OC:

"Kevin Daft was hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in February of 2017. Daft comes to Hanover with more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience, most recently at his alma mater, the University of California, Davis.

Daft spent the last five years on the staff at UC Davis, serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the past four."

Here comes the Big Green is often heard when a guy leans over the gutter in Butte on St.Patty's Day!
