HELP Needed: ESPN3 + XBox

If they would put it on Gameplan I would pay for it in a heartbeat. I don't know the logistics of all of it but I assume ESPN is doing their own production which is already a hard cost. I wouldn't think putting the games on Gameplan would add cost, but it would create another revenue stream. In the process they would shut up unhappy fans like me (although not my husband since he is not a fan and gets a little perturbed with me for paying $25 for one game....but oh well...)

This was my thought too. Why pay all of the production costs -- announcers, cameramen, truck, meals, hotels, flights, etc -- to put a game on ESPN3? This is why I'm hopeful that -- beginning next Sat when the FBS schedule is much smaller -- that most of the FCS games will be on GamePlan.
Since the mantra is always "follow the money," this has puzzled me for years.

Given how they handle the early games, I figure ESPN bid on the FCS playoffs mostly to keep someone else from having them. Then their televised games, no matter how lame, will draw the maximum crowd. I know, not many fans give a s**t about FCS ... but it's football, and the games are meaningful, so the playoffs might draw some eyeballs away from their "real" football line-up. The revenue stream from ESPN3 is probably enough for them to break even on the cost (or maybe a bit more). So for ESPN, it's a win-win: They keep some game crews busy and make a few bucks on the side (maybe), and they remove a potential source of competition for their big-money FBS TV schedule.

Too cynical? Puhleeez! (And does anyone have a better notion?)
