Thanks to my friend GF24 reminding me in his weekly write-up of the Griz being a little choppy out of the bye weeks, I thought I'd go back and check it out.
Here's his write-up BTW: https://upwithmontana7.wordpress.com/2024/10/23/grizzly-game-script-northern-colorado/
Hauck 2.0: 2-3 after the bye
2023: 40-0 win vs UNC. It was 0-0 after the first quarter and 14-0 at the half. Montana scored on a pick 6 and then the offense finally found the endzone with just 1:30 left before halftime. Montana's first 5 drives would have 2 punts, 2 missed field goals, and 1 interception.
2022: 23-30 loss vs Idaho. In Wa Griz Montana played wildly sloppy and had two critical late drives end with interceptions. Idaho would hold Montana to just 68 rushing yards, the Griz would give up a safety, and Hayden Hatton went for 150 yards and 2 TDs.
2021: 39-7 win vs Cal Poly. Again, in Wa Griz, Montana's offense would go pretty cold with just 334 yards of total offense, the defense / ST accounted for a pick 6, a blocked punt that scores a TD, and a kick return TD to outshine the offense overall.
2019: 22-49 loss @ Sac State. I believe this game was the one where Sneed got hurt, he had a pretty bad night as it was, 140 yards and 2 INTs. The game was 18-15 Sac in the 2nd quarter and then Sac would go on a 24-0 scoring run over the 2nd/3rd quarters to blow Montana out of the water.
2018: 21-49 loss vs UC Davis. I blocked this game out of my memory. Montana was up 21-3 at the half, Davis would then shut Montana out in the 2nd half and score 46 unanswered points, including 36 in the 4th quarter. Montana had 3 consecutive drives that within a few plays wound up being a turnover that the Davis offense would turn into a score.
Hauck 1.0: 5-1 after the bye
2009: 35-23 win vs Cal Poly. Montana would need a 21 point 4th quarter surge to take and hold the lead, Montana had 5 turnovers on the day, 2 picks and 3 lost fumbles. Montana's first 4 possessions are all 3 and outs.
2008: no bye week
2007: 35-14 win vs Albany. Montana is up just 14-7 at the half with a real mixed bag of results for the offense, two 3 and outs, two turnovers on downs, one interception, and 2 TDs. The Griz would get it together late, scoring on both drives in the 4th quarter.
2006: 59-14 win vs Sac St. An easier win! Montana would score 24 points on their first 4 drives, they did throw 2 picks after that, but kept things rolling after that.
2005: 24-19 win vs Weber State. Up 5 with 4:00 left in the game Montana would stop Weber on downs on the Griz 20 yard line, however the Grizzly offense would be unable to get a 1st down and gave the ball back to Weber. Weber would get to the Griz 25 yard line but with 2 seconds left in the game Mike Murphy gets a sack/fumble to secure the win.
2004: 32-35 loss @ Portland State. PSU ran all over Montana and the Grizzly offense opened the game with two 3 and outs and 2 lost fumbles. In the 2nd half the Griz were never able to hold momentum as PSU would usually match scores, and even snagged a pick after Montana forced one on them in the prior possession.
2003: 41-28 win vs Idaho. We all remember this game, Montana surprised Idaho with a triple option attack. Idaho would find some late scores but by then the game was in hand. Montana had 7 players with multiple carries
