QB - Logan Fife 6’0” 205 (Fresno St) - Appears to have taken over the starting QB job, at least temporarily, leading one of the most prolific offenses we’ve had in years, averaging 43 points and 503 yards per game. GRADE - A
OL- Cade Klimczak 6'2" 290 (Central Michigan) - Has taken over the starting center job, allowing Brown to slide to guard, anchoring an offensive line that’s plowing for the RB’s, averaging 265 ypg rushing. One complaint, O-line has allowed 16 sacks. GRADE - A-
OL - Everett Johnson 6’7” 300 (Cal) - In the 2 deep rotation, but not able to crack the starting lineup. GRADE - C
WR- Dayton Toney 6' 1" 190 (Hawaii/Incarnate Word) - AWOL. Hasn’t caught one pass, hasn’t participated in a single game. GRADE - INCOMPLETE
RB - Stevie Rocker 6’0” 200 (Arizona) - Played in all six games, has 6 carries for 66 yards and a TD, with a great burst, and 3 receptions for 30 yards. Tough to get PT with Gillman and Ostmo ahead of him. We look set next year at RB with Rocker in the RB room. GRADE - B+
WR/RB - BJ Phillips 5’9” 170 (Santa Barbara City College) - Very limited action in one game. No offensive statistics. GRADE - D
DL- RB Marquise Wilson 6' 4" 250 (Coll. of Canyons) - ZERO Action; Highly touted transfer, appears to be in Bobby’s doghouse. GRADE - F
DL- Jake Mason 6'3" 250 (U of Washington) - Action in 5 games. Nothing notable on a defense that’s historically horrific, and if he’s on ST, they’ve underperformed as well. GRADE - D
DE- Caleb Otlewski 6' 4" 225 (San Diego State) - In the 2-deep LB rotation, appears to shine when he’s on the field, but in this defense what does that really mean? GRADE - B-
DL- Patrick Hayden 6' 2" 280 (Monmouth) - Big shoes to fill, doing an admirable job, but is he up to the task? GRADE - B
DE- Andres Lehrman 6' 2" 255 (Youngstown State) - Seems to be on the field a lot, not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. Defensive line gets little pressure and his name is rarely called. GRADE - C+
LB- Vai Kaho 6'1" 230 (San Diego State) - Stepped in as one of the starting LB’s, seems to be chasing guys a lot. Great between the tackles, but not so good elsewhere. GRADE - C-
DB - Prince Ford 6’0” 170 (Illinois) - Injured? Really not sure, but has seen very limited action in just 3 games. Being his brother was probably too much to ask, but he’s been a disappointment to me. GRADE - D
CB- Kenzel Lawler 6' 0" 185 (Utah) - Action in 5 games, part of a historically bad defensive back set. GRADE - C+
S- Chrishawn Gordon 5' 11" 190 (Fresno State) - Moved into the starting rotation in week 6. Not much (if any) improvement in the back 5’s performance. GRADE - C-
S- Cade Cutler 6' 0" 206 (Kittens) - Played in 5 games, mostly ST I would imagine, which have underperformed almost as badly as the defense. GRADE - C
K/P- Ty Morrison 6' 3" 205 - Stepped into starting kicker and punter jobs; booms punts, good leg, above average accuracy. GRADE - A-
K- Johan Silver 5' 11" 185 (Kent State) 3 to play 3 - Limited action in just 1 game. GRADE - INCOMPLETE
Outside of Fife, Klimczak, Morrison and flashes from Rocker and Otlewski in limited time, that’s a LOT of misses for guys who were supposed to come in and fill holes.
Flame away….
