Maybe more appropriate for the rumor board, but....

The buzz in Zagland is that sophomore 2 guard Larry Gurganious will not be back next year. Gray, Bouldin, and the signing of more guards will likely lead to even less minutes for LG next year.

If true, I think UM would be a perfect fit for LG. He could be a starter and a real threat to drive BSC defenders every time down the court. He could solve some dribble penetration woes. In addition, he is one of the best on-ball defenders I can remember at GU. He just can't really shoot. If he really is leaving, and I don't see why he wouldn't, I would not be surprised if he goes the BSC route (stays in the west, and gets to be a great contributor). If anyone has any more info, it would be great if you could give it. Tinkle should keep an eye on this.

LG redshirted last year due to injury. Unless he can get another year, he would have to sit a year and then only have one left.

CDA.....I think you bring up some great points...although its all up in the air at this point....I think an athlete/defender of his caliber could be used on any BSC team.... I really like his game, its just hard when your deep on the bench behind super frosh/sophs that the Zags have....he could really help a lot of teams out.. keep us posted

I don't know if this was posted...... has to be the 1st Zag to leave early if he does

Gonzaga's Pargo declares for NBA draft

Posted: April 15, 2008
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Gonzaga guard Jeremy Pargo has declared himself eligible for the NBA draft but is reserving the option of returning for his senior season by not hiring an agent.

In a statement released Tuesday by Gonzaga, Pargo said going through the draft's early entry process will be a great learning experience.

As long as he doesn't hire an agent, the junior guard is eligible to withdraw his name from draft consideration until June 16. The draft is set for June 26 in New York City. The early entry deadline is April 27.

Pargo was the West Coast Conference player of the year and an Associated Press All-America honorable mention. He averaged 12.1 points, 6 assists and 3.7 rebounds.

Gonzaga coach Mark Few said he's confident that Pargo "will make an educated and thoughtful decision."

Not great numbers for leaving early and most NBA scouts seem to be of the opinion he had a down year and needs more time.

I have not seen as many transfer players that are out there right now looking for new schools as there are this year, but I think if Tinkle was looking for another d-1 transfer (he has two on the roster right now) he could do better than a guy who will only have one year of eligibility remaining.

Seems dumb to me. One more year, especially with the talent level GU will have next year, could've done great things for him. Lottery pick maybe if GU does some damage in the tourney w/ pargo as the senior leader...?

My guess is he will be back, because he is certainly no lottery pick. Gonzaga had a ton of talent this year, and they underachieved imo, so next year is not a given either. The WCC title is likely, but 1 and done in the NCAA wouldn't surprise me.

Thought he was a true soph this year...woops....yea intersting but sounds like he's stayin put...and has no reason to transfer to another D-1
