Guess who...

Guess who sat in "the Best Seats In the House" for the largest crowd in the new Dahlberg arena's history.

A Criswell three with a hand in the face looks a lot cooler from two feet away.

Oh... and by the way, that was the best team the Griz have ever played at home. (yes ahead of Gonzaga.... maybe TCU would be up there)

They are legit, and it would not suprise me at all to see them in the sweet 16 again this year.

I give the definate nod to the Zags, and Fennis Dembo and Wyoming were good. Not to mention a ranked Idaho team in the 80"s. But yes, that was a good team the Griz played last night.

I liked my seat alot better...

Just for the men's team, it is only the second largest crowd, behind the 7332 fans that came to honor Monte a couple seasons ago.

When taking in the Lady Griz games, this game was third largest. Lady Griz played in front of 7,413 fans in the new arena.

Don't be ridiculous. They aren't even ranked. I've seen almost every game at Dahlberg over the past 18 years and I've seen plenty better.

Stanford had 2 top 10 NBA picks on one team-Todd Lichti and Adam Keefe on a team that came here in 1988-89. Howard Wright also played in the NBA off that team. 3 NBA-ers on one team. They beat us 79-63. Stanford won 15 in a row that year. They were ranked #12 and went 26-7. That is my vote for best team to play here ever.

That Idaho team with Ken Owens was ranked when we beat them in the 80's when they were 19-0 or something. Before my time.

Gonzaga has brought in several teams better than Milwaukee. 2000-01 team was here that went to the great 8. Casey Calvary had 28 against us in a 77-69 Zags win here. Dan Dickau didn't even play that game.

Weber's Arceneaux and Eddie Gill team was dang good. Gill played in the NBA although Arceneaux never did. How was that possible? That guy was amazing. He averaged 22 and 23 ppg at Weber and had 36 when they beat North Carolina in the NCAAs in 99'. The funny thing is we whipped Weber 87-53 at Sentinel HS just before they went on to beat UNC. Arceneaux got ejected from that game.

Mississppi State's Erick Dampier team that we lost in OT 90-85 in 1994-95 went to the Sweet 16 that year.

Milwaukee is good sure, but they aren't much better than us. Everyone seems to forget that they lost their leading-scorer that took them to the Sweet 16 last year. They were better last year than this year. They have yet to beat anybody impressive this year. We are their best win all year.

Let's see if ANY of these guys play in the NBA. I highly doubt it. good team yes, but so are the Griz. No WAY that is the best team to play here.

Believe it or not...

The Griz beat IDAHO STATE When they were ranked #8 in the nation!!!!

Believe it or not, It wasn't Idaho State.

I remember Idaho being ranked 8th, and Griz beat them 53 - 51 on Jan. 21, 1982. My avatar is of the student section from that game.

I remember that game very well. Sitting in the front row of the student section near the center line. Selvig tosses up the flat footer for the win. What a great game.

then I must have been just above you. I always liked to sit 4 or 6 rows up in the center. Had to get to get there around 4:30pm to 5 pm (2 to 3 hours before game) to get those seats.

not to completely hijack this thread, but didn't the griz beat idaho bad at idaho the year the Vandals were ranked really high? I recall playing Nerf hoop with a friend listening to the game (I was like 12), and I swear that the Griz beat them 80-61 at Idaho and Idaho was ranked 10th. I remember Derrick Pope having an incredible game.

Can anyone verify my memory? I sometimes don't trust my memories, as a few years later (high school and college) I managed to destroy most of my brain cells.

Thanks.

I'm afraid you may have destroyed some brain cells here but not so bad. You have the year wrong. Not sure how many brain cells would have been lost for that minor detail. A couple maybe at the most.

Griz lost to Idaho in Moscow 71 - 58 in 1982 during the year Idaho was ranked 8th. I wouldn't know where Idaho was ranked when the game was played in Moscow, but they were 8th when it was played around a month earlier in Missoula, won by the Griz 53 - 51.

Now, the Griz beat Idaho 80 - 61 in Moscow the following year in 1983. Griz also beat Idaho 59 - 49 in Missoula in 1983. Whether Idaho was ranked high that year, I doubt it, but maybe. Montana finished 21 - 8 that year.
