Guaranteed Way To Build A Great BB Team At UM

So, you say you want to dominate the Big Sky in BB......... make the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament???

There is a sure-fire way to do so. That is, pay some significant NIL money to a core group of 5-7 BB players. Gonzaga is obviously doing it, as this article states. Why can't we? Unlike football, we only need 3-5 stud BB players to dominate the conference. And NIL money is the way to entice them to play here.

Comments???

Watching Cats/Weber while reading this and laughed out loud at the thought, then I see a commercial with Cats women’s basketball player Kola Bad Bear, so maybe you are on to something!

Ya that would make sense, would love to see it but I don't think this athletic department is set up to compete in the new world of college sports.

Simpler yet.
In the off-season, work with basketball teams around the state. Spend time in our MT schools telling and showing these coaches how to develop Montana players! Introduce yourself and players to the youngsters of this state. Tell them what it takes to be a Griz or Cat!

It would only take a few in state players to buy in to successfully do it! Then again, our fans aren't patient enough to see that pay off.

To add, if it were me, I'd be introducing myself and program at as many MT schools as possible. Hell, if time and money is tight, put together a Montana Griz Basketball video. Introduce yourself, your coaches, your players, your drills, your philosophies, tell them what it takes, if you put in the effort, build your game, we want you here!

If it was up to me I would find and shake that money tree, 3-4 players and we get it going !
Problem is though TD wouldn't go for that.

What money tree? I don't see where Rosie has even planted any seed money.

At the very least it would give us something new to complain about . . . Which players are earning their money?

Why is it my role to start this? It was my idea, but I'm not going to be the Lone Ranger. And where would the money go? This has to be an organized, and well-marketed program. I assure you that some FCS teams are already doing it. We seem to have ZERO vision in our athletic department to keep-up with the vast changes in recruiting athletes. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the dinosaur coaches running our football & basketball programs.

Athletic departments are not allowed to be involved with NIL.

Travis said recruiting mostly happens at these AAU tournaments now. Rhett Reynolds played for Idaho select to get noticed
