Griz WBB vs MSU

Undisputable is the evidence that Montana WBB coach Brian Holsinger & staff have the Griz playing their best hoops of the season... despite the loss of sr. Sammy Fatkin (whose left foot was in a boot Thursday). Whether they can beat a solid second-place MSU women's team tonight is not so certain. They're capable, I believe. But situations like this (seven straight losses to the cats & two 1-and-Out appearances in the post season) you know a senior-led team is going to put tons of pressure on themselves to win... especially early. The biggest opponent in these games is often in players' heads. On top of it all: It's senior night with 5 plaeyers being feted pre-game.
That may be the biggest challenge for Montana's coaches. But if Montana can play loose and aggressively, I believe they can make this game a battle. Go Griz.

LG beat MSU for first time in 4 years (?) 71 - 57 final score!

It didn't look like Sammy was in a boot anymore, but I couldn't tell for sure.
 
They discussed on the broadcast the potential for a COVID year of eligibility. Is that actually true? It would especially be beneficial for the LG. But I thought I had heard Pridgett would have been interested in an extra year back in 2020 but it wasn't offered because that year still got to complete their regular season even though the tourney got canceled. :?:
 
Great win by the ladies, BTW! Came out super tight and had a lot of turnovers or empty possessions early because of being flat-footed/stagnant/non-aggressive. But seemed to loosen up once some shots started to fall.

Oh man, the men could really use a Sayeed on the floor!
 
Very nice win, no matter how you measure it. SU was a very nice win too. Plus, both weren't close. Maybe the LG can finish strong with 2 more wins on road and enter the tourney on a high note. The seniors were very strong tonight. Look at Stiles' rebounds and assists. That's desire. Only 4 points off bench. Bench had only 22 minutes.
 
I love how Holsinger goes after the ref's when he thinks we are getting screwed. He went off on the ref that called the foul on Abby, which was immediately after she took an elbow to the face on the other side of the basket prior to her foul.

And he was really after them when at one point in the third period we had five fouls and MSU had zero. They called back to back fouls on Kylie Frohlich battling for defensive position in the key when they had not called it all game, while at the same time MSU was hand checking Sophia all the way up the court as she brought the ball up. Holsinger was doing the hand check motion to the ref on that side of the court the whole time and all of the sudden MSU was up to 4 fouls.
Crowd really got into also.

Bench had 37 minutes and with Sammy Fatkin not playing we had one less person to come off the bench. Nice win for the Griz!

Bet the seniors are glad they have a coach who finally helped them get a win over the Cats before careers ended. And did so with none of the players who left the team last year!

With some of the players from last year, the LG would have won both games. And, the new great recruiting coach got the win without help from any players he brought in.
 
The Lady Griz could be 30-0 and win the national championship and Player Rep or whoever he is would still be complaining about our very good coach. The two former MT players that he adores did not really have great seasons--Momberg was average at best on a bad Western team and Murphy played on a UTC team that was 7-23 for the year and she was not a starter and he thinks they would have made us beat the cats twice??
