GRIZ vs USC

After being down 8-32, Griz won 54-44. I'm fine with what I saw. Actually, liked what I saw.

Lots of players. Some nice showings by a few new players.

Hustling D the whole game. Mistakes on D, but all hustle. Areas that can be improved.

Assume the Griz will shoot the 3 better. Hope they shoot FTs better.

Killed on rebounds early. Not sure how we improve on rebounding.

Took care of the ball after the first 2 times down court.

Lots of guys can go to hoop.

All unselfish play.

Griz can and will be better. I'd guess Travis has the attention of all or most of this team.

USC is big and has good players. Hit a lot of shots and 3's early. Either backed off or came back to earth.

Some day, hopefully in my lifetime, the Griz will figure out a way to stop going down by 25 points before they start playing against the big boys. That day is not today.

I'm pretty sure they were up by 12 in the first 10 minutes against michigan in 2018 tourny

I thought parker was a shooter, hasn't impressed me at all, to me Timmy was better.
Bannon is going to be all we want and more, sorry mac.
STILL no shooters, WTF.

O man lets not start the Falls stuff already lol (Im joking), Parker seem alright looks like more of a bigsky player, but he didn't shoot much but the game didnt look like it was moving to fast for him with the ball in his hand which is good to see. Bannon looks good, but I still like what Anderson developed into defensively last year and he can get hot for stretches so I wouldnt move him down the depth chart just yet, but yeah it will be interesting as it looks like the forwards DCH Owens Bannon and Anderson will all have to fight for playing time. But ugh yeah no shooters seen tonight

You don't even have to go that far back.

You still have to score more points than the other team and it doesn't look like we have the outside shooters to do that.

Another slow start for the grizzlies. Just can’t get that far down and expect to play catch-up. At one point I think we were down 22 so to lose by 14 might be considered a moral victory but Travis doesn’t believe in moral victories and neither should his players. Haven’t seen the final stats but the only stat I think we were better in was turnovers. Not going to comment on any specific player but our 3 pt. shooting needs a lot of work. Definitely a work in progress.
In the E.Washington game EWOO is up over the Cougars 16-3. WSU ain’t no USC by a long shot. EW looks pretty athletic and has some shooters. At this point their playing up to their press clippings.

Parker wasn't touted as a shooter; he was a ball handler and assist guy. Some thought Satterwhite would be shoot the 3. He did tonight. He shot 7 3-pointers and missed all of them. Excluding his 7, UM shot 4-10 from 3.

I think in big sky we’ll be fine as we will be more athletic than most teams but it appears initially that shooting will be a struggle again.

When you spot a team 20+ points and are shooting at a basket in another zip code it makes a long way back.

It looked like usc packing the box and almost giving us the outside shot.....but

Yeah this seems to be the Blue Print. I think a few years ago I remember Griz being on a roll then Idaho did that to use and it finally slowed down Ogunie and Rorie getting to the basket and we lost a tough one, then EWU did it to use the next game and it became the obvious strat against our athletic slashers. Teams have realized from outside the key our shooting percentage does not change based on being guarded so why bother lol. When I see one of our guys get a wide open look for 3 I have no increased expectation that it will go in, my expectations are the same as they would be if he had a hand in his face...which is kind of a problem as the whole point of the offense is to work open shots which I think we do quite well.
