MBBALL Griz vs. Texas A & M

Tragic! I feel so bad for Money. Just a total freak thing there with him fouling out. He was just trying to preserve clock and I’m sure he just forgot he had 4 fouls. You could tell he was just sick to himself. I probably would’ve went to Thompson or Hicks at the end of the game there. Chase had a bad night and I wasn’t confident he would make both of those.

That was an unbelievable comeback! Guys played with a lot of heart tonight and we gave ourselves a chance in the end. A 5 point loss to an SEC team won’t hurt our resume in the least bit. It may in fact make our resume look even better. Now we got 4 straight games against mid majors. Gotta stack the wins now! Lamar on Sunday. Let’s give em hell!

There was one really big coaching decision Decuire made that really helped spur the comeback. I can’t remember how much time was left in the game but we were down by 11 and Sawyer fouled that big 7 footer who was only 50% from the free throw line and he ended up missing the front end of the one and one, and that’s when the momentum really shifted and Money started catching fire. You could see Sawyer look over at the bench and then immediately foul the guy. That was a genius coaching decision by the staff. Good on them for recognizing that, and good on Sawyer for actually doing it.

I decided to check the Kenpom rankings today. Here are the rankings of our 4 non-conference opponents we've played so far:

Texas A&M 73
Stanford 79
UNLV 102
Cal Poly 220

And here are the current Big Sky rankings:
1. Montana 142
2. Portland State 155
3. Northern Colorado 175
4. Eastern Washington 204
5. Montana State 209
6. Idaho 223
7. Idaho State 229
8. Weber State 242
9. Sacramento State 279
10. Northern Arizona 280

The good news is there's nobody currently outside of the top 300. Bad news is there's only 3 teams in the top 200. That needs to improve.

Here are the rankings of our remaining D1 non-conference opponents
Lamar 210
Oakland 162
North Dakota 317
North Dakota State 165
Louisville 10

Thanks for the stats. That took time and effort. It is appreciated.

Holy hell. What an effort. This team was down 19 with 6:30 to play on the road at a freakin SEC school, and they cut it to one. Obviously need to find a way to get over the hump no matter who you're playing, but this will give that group a TON of confidence. Love the heart. It would have been really easy to lose that game by 26.
