SDSU returns all their starters from a team that had a good showing in their NCAA tourney game last year. They are a decent team.

actually 4 of 5 starters are back

Ahhh, so I was misinformed by the article I read a while back. My mistake and thanks for the clarification!

Everybody is trying to tell us that SDSU is such a great team. Umm, maybe they are, but how does anyone know? Montana is now their most impressive win (and might be all year), which wasn't very impressive since we basically didn't have Cherry at all. They've also beat Dakota State (no not NDSU, just plain "Dakota State"), Black Hills State, Southwest Minnesota, U of District of Columbia, Marshall by 1, Omaha, Tennessee State by 7, Cal-Bakersfield by 6 and North Dakota by 1. Loses to Alabama, Minnesota and mighty Hofstra. Now they have league games, and Bakersfield again, so they won't play anyone rated the rest of the year. Even if they end up 25-5 or something, who have they beat? Nobody. I can't get excited about a team that beats Montana and North Dakota by 1 point each. They're an average-to-good Big Sky team, nothing more. Wolters is over-rated. He's 10-35 shooting vs Big Sky teams this year. He was 5-14 vs. Bakersfield too. He's just a chucker, who flops and dives to get free-throws when he can't make any shots, which seems to be often. He's from my dad's hometown, so I was excited about him after hearing the hype. I am not that impressed. He's got some game obviously, but he is no way near an NBA prospect, no frickin' way. He has his hot nights, but he is just as often cold as he is hot. His shooting % is worse than his team's avg. Dykstra has actually lead the Jacks in scoring 5 of their last 6 games, although Wolters missed 2 of those games. Just the facts.

Sorry but Wolters is an NBA prospect. His VI rating is a 9.1 right now on a scale where a 8 is considered excellent. VI stands for Versatality Index, which is important to NBA scouts and front office guys. His IER is a 3.60 on a scale where a 2.50 is considered a high rating. IER stands for individual efficiency rating. You can argue about their schedule strength, but put yourself in their shoes. It's tough for them to get qaulity home games and road, because qaulity teams don't want to risk getting beat by a former D2 program that is now a rising mid-major power or possible one. Gonzaga went through the same thing from about 95 to 2003 without the D2 part. :-)
Wolters has the threat of the pass and that is consider by many pro scouts as a gift not readily found. It's a gift that got Stockton into the league as a back-up PG to start out and most recently Lin. I'm not saying Wolters is as good as those guys, but he exhibits similiar qaulities and that makes him a prospect. It's not all about scoring. Wolters played 47 minutes hurt or recovering from being hurt, had 1 turnover and he touched the ball for probably about 98% of their possesions. He got rebounds and put his teammates in scoring situations.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Sorry, he doesn't pass the eye test. He in no way possesses a dominant game that is NBA ready. Compare to Lilliard, he took over games at this level, even rooting against him he was a DOMINANT player and I loved watching him against the Griz. This dude is not in the same neighborhood. Just isn't.

Wolters their NBA prospect had 28 points, several assists...a great win for them...too bad we did not close out...SDSU is a pretty decent team for sure and will likely win their Summit league

Well a lot of players don't pass the eye test sometimes for fans, but it doesn't mean the player isn't NBA material. A lot of people felt Stockton and Nash didn't have what it took, but they proved them wrong. A lot of different things factor in. If Stockton wasn't drafted by the Jazz who knows if he would have even made it, etc.
Fact is right now Wolters is rated as a 2nd round prospect by scouts and draft experts and they are far more qaulified than probably you and I to make the determination if he is NBA ready or not. A lot players coming in to the league are not ready, but it does't mean they aren't good enough. Some players take a little time to adjust or find their niche in the league. I think what Wolters showed against NM, says maybe the scouts and draft experts have it right. Time will tell and it's not always about being a dominate college player against every opponent.
