Badger fan here, congrats on a successful season, Griz fans.
I know next to nothing about your team, other than your mascot. So I'm looking forward to learning more this week.
As for the Badgers, we are a three point shooting team, plain and simple. Here's my breakdown of our contributing players:
Starters:
PG -- Jordan Taylor (Sr): Not the quickest guard in the world, but fast enough to get around guys if need be. He may be the strongest guard in the nation, however. He can post up, and has a few pretty nice moves. His three point shooting can be streaky, but there's nobody I'd rather have with the ball in his hands at the end of a game. Very clutch. He's been awesome for our program, on and off the court.
SG -- Josh Gasser (So): A pretty good shooter, and he can drive, but most Badger fans wish he would be more assertive on offense. He can sometimes disappear on that end of the court. On defense, he's well above average. By far the best guard defender we've got. And he may be the best rebounding guard Bo Ryan has ever had. His positioning on the blocks crashing the boards is second to none.
SF -- Ryan Evans (Jr): Borderline unusable when he came to Wisconsin, but he has improved immensely. He's mastered the art of the mid-range jumper this year. It doesn't always look pretty when he line drives one at the basket, but they've been going in more often than not. He's very athletic, but a little clumsy looking when he dribbles. He's another great rebounder, as well.
PF -- Mike Bruesewitz (Jr): He's played a lot since he came to Wisconsin as a freshman, but his offensive game hasn't made much progression. He's in a woeful shooting slump right now and has offered next to nothing on that side of the court for most of the year. What he does well, however, is the "glue" type of stuff. He's a gritty rebounder, and a pretty solid defender.
C -- Jared Berggren (Jr): He can be a load inside, although he needs to play through contact and finish at a higher percentage than he has recently. He seems to look for the foul when he goes up down low instead of finishing strong and letting the whistles blow where they may. He's got a pretty nice stroke from three for a big man, and is especially lethal from the top of the key. He can also put the ball on the floor and beat most other guys his size, but can be susceptible to guards with quick hands, as he tends to put the ball down low more often than I'd like.
Reserves:
SG -- Rob Wilson (Sr): Kid's made a lot of stupid mistakes in his years at Madison (on the court--off the court he's one of the nicest, best kids you'll ever meet), which has kept him off the floor for the most part. But things have started to click over the last month or so for Rob, culminating in his 30 point explosion last week vs. Indiana. He's started hitting the three with regularity, and is one of the best slashing players Wisconsin has. He's pretty explosive when he wants to be. He could be one of the biggest factors in Wisconsin's NCAA Tournament this year. If he's giving us 8-12 points, we could be tough to beat.
SG -- Ben Brust (So): I think he's going to be a good player for us down the road, but he's really struggled in recent weeks. Enormously streaky shooter. His threes either hit the bottom of the net, or clank off the backboard. He's tied Wisconsin's single game record for threes TWICE this season (7), but he's also gone on long stretches where he can't hit the broad side of a barn. He has a scorer's mentality, although even that has been tempered the last month or so, as I think his confidence has fallen off with his struggles. He can drive and hit the little floater as well. I really don't see him being a huge factor in this tournament, however.
PF/C -- Frank Kaminsky (Fr): Sweet stroke from deep, but lacks confidence to shoot unless he's WIDE OPEN (as many freshman do). Wish he'd be more assertive on the block--I can't remember the last time I've seen him make an aggressive post move. He can stretch the defense, and is a capable rebounder, but he can be beaten in the low block on defense. He'll be a very good player for Wisconsin in the future. As far as this tournament goes, he's probably good for a 3-6 points a game and not a whole lot more.
