Compared to last year......some great stats by Gogola

I’d love to know how those numbers improve if you took out the Oregon game and only looked at FCS competition.

Either way, it’s might impressive.

Those year to year stats are interesting, 20% better under Coach Stitt than Coach Hauck's first year? I guess Stitt did have Calhoun, but the narrative is usually that Stitt's teams were too much finesse and not enough gritty "Montana tough". Like a lot of things I guess we believe it because we are told to, like injuries in play-up games or fear of the metric system.

Stitt was also in year three of his system with all of his recruits. The only real comparison to be made would be 2016 through the first 6 games and 2019, and even that would be in accurate because the opponents are all different. Last year Hauck was breaking in a new system with a bazillion receivers and no lineman. One year later the roster has been completely overhauled and we’re starting to see the results. Next year, I would expect another jump. The depth will be an amazing improvement next season

I was in no way trying to slag Coach Hauck, sorry if it read that way. There is little question that our short yardage play isn't a strength of the team. My only point was that it's interesting that lots of times, what we believe and what is reality are different by degrees.

Yes, that is impressive.
But, things are about to get real because the second-half schedule is difficult.

The second half will be brutal. But an 8 win Montana team makes the post season. If UM goes 3-3 the rest of the way they make the playoffs IMO

Yep an 8 win MT team is in easily and would host. There’s even a chance (small one) a 7 win team gets in depending on the wins (say beating Weber or Cats).

And an 11 win MT team is in with a bye and homefield until at least the semi finals!

That metric system will kill you every time. How in the world will we know how cold it is if we have to use celsius?

If we play like we have been (big if) and win out, there's a good chance we could end up with the #2 overall and have it throughout. Depends on what happens with JMU/Villanova, though.

At 5-1 I’m not abdicating shit to UNDSU yet....

Having watched them, UNI, and SDSU play, I would be pretty shocked if they didn't win out and lock up the #1 seed.

I also just don't see a world where an 11-1 Montana isn't the favorite for the #2 seed, especially if we keep playing the way we have been.

No guarantees at all, since we have the hardest part of our schedule coming up, but we certainly control our own destiny.

Sh!t gets real now.

Griz are a playoff lock IMO.

Only short yardage stats I care about will come in the brawl...on the goal line.
