Griz Schedule

Can someone explain the Griz conference schedule to me? They play at MSU on Sunday (2/13) then on to Sac State for the Thursday game, then return home.

They host EWU on Thursday, PSU on Saturday (2/26), the go to NAU on Monday (2/28).

Why did the break up the Sac/NAU trip? Why are the Griz playing 3 games in 5 days to end the season, with the 3rd game being the worst trip of the year? The Griz will have 3 weeks when they only play 1 game per week, 2 of those weeks are home games.

Combined with scheduling MSU for January when the students are gone Fullerton is doing the Griz no favors.

Not sure of the reasons, but I would say, some of those schools may have scheduled other events in the arenas.

I remember MSU scheduling a rodeo event in Brick Breeden fieldhouse a couple years or so that forced basketball game to be scheduled on a different day than normal. Thus, they may have schedule of other events at NAU and MSU. The Lady Griz are playing saturday the Feb. 12th, so I would have to say that there is something scheduled on Feb 11th (friday) that forced both basketball games to be scheduled one day later. I bet there could be rodeo at MSU on Feb. 11th.

Have no idea about NAU. Sac State is scheduled at a time it would normally be (on thursday). Thus, NAU is the one that has the conflict and moved the game to another date.

NAU is playing in ESPN's bracket buster weekend and that's the reason why they had to move that game to the end of the schedule.

I don't know the exact reason for the Sunday game.

I figured the other teams had conflicts, but there had to be a better solution than this - have UM and NAU start a week in advance, like WSU and PSU did.

How is it that they can move Montana's schedule to accommodate NAU, but can't accommodate UM/MSU on having the game when students are in session?

(From Rial's column:
It would be nice to see the the Big Sky nurture the league's only true rivalry by making sure UM-MSU games were slotted into later dates, as was the case for most of the 1980s. But don't hold your breath waiting for that either. Conference commissioner Doug Fullerton says such an accommodation would affect every other team in the league,
