I'll probably do this every week with each team in the conference now that we're inside 100 days and get reacquainted and up to speed with our peers in the conference. Of course though, let's start with us.
September 4 @ Washington-L. I think the goal here would be to keep it inside 30 points. So if we lose by 28, I'll consider that a moral victory.
September 11 vs. Western Illinois- W. These guys have just not been the same since they made a coaching change in 2018. They'll probably be the worst team in the valley this year.
September 18 BYE. I hate when bye weeks are this early in the season.
September 25 vs. Cal Poly-W. Can't say I'm all that impressed with what I saw from them this spring. We knew it would be a complete rebuild for them and so far that's the case.
October 2 @ Eastern Washington-W. If Barriere would've left I would have said guaranteed win, now I think it's more 50/50. This will be Hauck's first crack at them on the red turf which has not been kind to us since it's ben implemented, that said I think we still pull it off.
October 9 vs. Dixie State-W. Step out of conference play to take on the FCS newcomers. We should have no problem with these guys at Wa-Griz.
October 16 vs. Sacramento State-W. Really don't know what to think of them. I think they caught lightning in a bottle with Thompson plus a super long layoff since their last game. I think they'll be decent but might not be a playoff team.
October 23 @ Idaho-W. Seems like the Vandy's are finally starting to get acclimated to the FCS and Big Sky. I still think we are much better then them but this will be a tough game on the road.
October 30 vs. Southern Utah-W. our Big Sky finale with the T-Birds. Definitely looked improved this spring, but still have a long way to go. Let's send them off in an appropriate manner with a big time beatdown.
November 6 @ Northern Colorado-W. Ed McCaffrey's crew. Seems like they've had a lot of departures from the team. May take some time for McCaffrey to get the bears in a position to win big time games like this.
November 13 @ Northern Arizona-W. Our first trip to the dome since 2016. Jacks went 3-2 this spring and nearly knocked off Weber. They may have finally put it all together. This feels like a trap game going into cat-Griz but I'll give us the win.
November 20 vs. Montana State. Not making a prediction. Anybody who knows me knows that I am very superstitious and I've predicted a Griz win in all 4 years that we've lost to the cats. So this year, I've told myself I'm not gonna do it. Every year regardless of records, I don't care what anyone says, this will always be a 50/50 game unless one team has significant injuries.
So if cat-Griz goes our way we finish 10-1 and undefeated against FCS teams, putting us in position for one of the top 2 seeds. If cat-Griz doesn't go our way we finish 9-2 and should still be in good position to get a top 4 seed. That's what I'm going with. How about you guys?
