Griz Recruiting against USC, Notre Dame

This guy sounds good. He's rated the #6 Shooting Guard in the west.

I see this this way:He's Catholic and goes to a Catholic HS and his parents would probably love to see their boy play for Notre Dame. He is probably not considering players already there or Notre Dame needs so much as pressure from the parents to go there. Stanford was also interested previously but did not offer and appears they won't. Those 2 showing interest tell me he's a solid student. Stanford is going after the #3 and #4 Shooting guards in the West so they don't need the #6 rated guy.

USC is a long-shot. Bibby apparently was high on him, but the new regime seems to have other ideas.

He travelled to South Africa in August and that helps us, as he probably missed on a camp or tourney or 2 where he could have impressed someone and may sour hard-core coaches that want basketball-only minded kids. Also speaks to his global-thinking and it may interest him more to try a new place.

He looks like a proto-type UC-Santa Barabara/Pepperdine Spicoli-surfer dude, which is wear he'd probably best fit in if he wanted to stay close to home and play it safe, depending on their teams needs. He's already visited UC-SB and they've offered a schollie and is his "safety-school" right now. He's looking for something better than SB. I guess we gotta convince him we have more to offer.

We lose Criswell and his 30+ minutes at shooting guard next year, so that is a strong recruiting tool for us. The NCAA appearance last year and a hot-start could really make a difference to a kid like this.

God I dont know what i am going to do if Coach K leaves....

Hopefully that kid will be watching when we beat UW-mil on the 30th

Also let's not forget who was after Cameron Rundles, who we already signed. Ohio State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Colorado, Iowa State showed interest as well as the ones we truly beat-out, fellow Mid-range schools:Central Florida, Marquette, Dayton, Western Michigan and Creighton.

2 of his AAU team-mates last year are going to Minnesota and Michigan State. Another former high-school team-mate is at Michigan State already. He is use to playing with and against great talent. He'd be way out of our league if he didn't hurt his shoulder playing football in 2004 that caused him to miss part of his Jr year last year.

He had 14 points in his school's 51-42 recent win.

I'm weary of who has "shown interest" though. That doesn't mean they offered a schollie. If USC or Stanford or Notre Dame actually offers Harden and he stills signs here, then I'd be impressed/amazed. Sending a letter and watching a practice doesn't mean much.

Why wouldn't you sign with the Griz? When the 6' 10" coach walks into your house and says, "come play for me..I played with Michael Jordan! "
