Griz Lose at the Free Throw Line

Griz lost to the Wildcats 74 - 61.

Wildcats shot 27 for 32 from the freethrow line.
Griz shot 9 for 12 from the freethrow line.

Take the difference and you can see why the Griz lost. Unfortunately, for the Griz anyway, Weber State is not Idaho State at the Freethrow line. ISU shoots 24% from the Freethrow line, and lose, difference in freethrows lost it for the Bengals. But Weber State shot 84% from the freethrow line, and win it because of freethrows.

Until the end, Griz shot from the field pretty good. I believe the Griz were over 50% until within the last 5 minutes. But when crunch time occurred, missed some clutch shots. Many of those were from 3 point line in an attempt to catch up, but there were a few shots from close in that were close to going in, but not quite. Ended up shooting 46.2% for the game.

Overall, though, Griz didn't play as well as Thursday despite a very good effort on their part. Weber State passed the ball well and were able to get some pretty good open shots despite a very good Griz defense (part of first half, Griz played poor defense but that is more due to the many substitutions made due to foul trouble on some Griz players, tough to maintain intensity when players are going in and out).

Have to say, Griz did not pass the ball as cleanly as Weber State did. Never was able to come up with many open shots.

Another problem, which I kind of thought would be a problem, was rebounding. Griz lost the rebounding war 32 - 21. They were even at the half 11 to 11, though. So second half, Weber must have made some adjustments and were able to get to the boards easier.

Griz are now even with home and road record. So are the Bobcats. Kind of weird that they are winning against teams the other loses, and losing to teams the other wins. Next week, Griz and Cats go at each other, and this time, it seems harder to predict who will win than any other time.

As for the rest of the league, ISU win over Bobcats have given them the lead in the league at 2 and 1.

Portland State has won and is even. 3 teams today have won on the road.

Weber seems to have bounced back from their loss nicely and were hungry for a win and got it.

It seems to me the Griz can play well but not all the time. one just doesn't know which team they'll see. once the team gets consistant obviously wins will come more often.

for now the song "rollercoaster" runs through my head when i think of the team this year. :D
