GRIZ/Hornets game thread

Wisner is a Stud In Waiting. He was HUGE get by this coaching staff.

His defense, and rebounding are getting better, along with an already good offensive game. Even his misses look nice. His one bomb was from beyond NBA 3, and he made it look pretty effortless. We are going to love this kid, as he matures. :thumb:

Got to watch on the replay. That was a pretty complete ass-kicking from the get-go. It was great to see the Griz grab a commanding lead and not let it go for once. Most of the Sac St. runs came when Tinkle subbed out the starters. The starting 5 really put the clamps on the hornets. Though they weren't a great team, it was nice the Griz didn't make them look great, either. I didn't see the same things that some of you did, I really didn't think Selvig or Hutch had a good game at all. Hutch fouled a lot on the D end and on O he stumbled alot and really looked clumsy tonight. I love what Art brings to the table. I know he has a role and he plays it well, but I do wish the offense keyed on him a bit more. If he is getting points in the paint, it does wonders for everyone else. Speaking of, it's great to see the Griz put together some games where they are getting good production in the paint from multiple people. It's helping create shots outside for Ward, etc. Great game, Griz!

Domination tonight at both ends. Steward really played like a stud. I don't see anyone other than Weber giving us a problem unless we lose our focus. The young guys got in a little and were clearly nervous on their shots but looked good.

way long time ago a coach named Nolan Richardson at U of Tulsa and U of Ark unleashed "40 minutes of hell" approach on the court...last night looked like our Griz are more than capable of it. They played with fierce passion an it showed. If we can keep anything close to this focus we are in great shape for a stretch run.

The Griz face a brutal stretch with 5 of the next 6 on the road (an aside: The Big Sky Conference league offices suck!). But if they play as well as they did for 70 minutes this weekend (ignoring the first 10 of the unc game), they will beat all of the teams in front of them.

I agree ... but asking them to play something close to their best BB may be asking too much. But even with some lapses, they should do well the rest of the way.

What really scares me is the possibility of an injury to Cherry. Not to deify him, but he drives this team in so many ways. I just don't see that level of consistent leadership from anyone else. And sometimes, when he's not in there, they seem to just drift. (Of course, the Griz are not alone in this -- several big-name teams unravel when their true floor leader is out.)
