GRIZ/EWU- praying the players decide this one!!!

Thanks to the team coming out flat and horrible officiating against PSU we are back to "needing" every game again. Very little room for error, it looks like 11-5 or 10-6 will win the conference, and 7-9 will make the tourney. I am sure the coaches have told this to the players. We are at the point in the season where the players have to decide what they want, and how hard they are willing to work for it!!!! There is little time for coaches tweaking, adjusting offense, defense, and personnel. Most every team in the BSC is in the same situation right now. Every player will hear the same thing from every coach, in turn every game should be a dog fight. In this case, it is not the size of the dog, but the size of the bite in the dog that will win out.

With that said, I 100% expect the GRIZ to come "fired" up from the get go (please officials, let the teams play the game, and swallow the damn whistle, no ticky tack fouls anymore.) I hope Tinks comes out pressing and trapping the hell out of EWU, just to make a statement early. Based on what I have seen last game and throughout the season, Hasquet, Chavez, Mayes, Swift, Ellis all appear to me having a warrior mentality. Strait, Martin, Rundles, Sharp, Staudacher, Dloughy all need to step it up some. The others have not played enough for me to know where they are at.

I am hoping Tinks rewards Swift and Mayes for their efforts last game. Defensively we are much better with Mayes out there. Offensively, when Swift goes to the hole we are much better. I love Swift's game, size, and combination of skills. Regardless of who starts, I want to see good ball movement, smart shot selection, hustle, and anyone not doing all the above be pulled ASAP!!!!

Dloughy, Mayes should be the primary defenders on Stuckey. Let's concentrate on shutting down those around him. Stuckey, getting 7 plus assists is trouble for us. Stuckey getting 25 plus points with very few assists is much better for us.

Now to the fans in attendance.  to the students stepping it up against PSU. They were louder, and trying to distract PSU and having fun. The students with the cardboard brick and pink/purple wig, Way to go, That is the attitude we need in the student section. I am hoping that becomes contagious. Whoever those guys were, be the leaders and in time earn "THE ZOO" nickname again. Lets get out there and support the GRIZ. Lets kick some EWU ASS tonight. See you all there. :thumb:

BTW, for superstition sake, everytime I have eaten at WOW before a game we are undefeated the last 2 years at home. Every time I have not, we lost at home. Anyone venture to guess where I am eating tonight before the game? :thumb:

Eastern forward suspended

MISSOULA – Derek Risper, a backup forward on the Eastern Washington basketball team, has been suspended

That is the headline - you have to pay for the remainder of the article.

Anyone that knows the "brick" guy. Bring that brick and a few others like it. I really liked that in the student section. I would love to see many of those bricks being shaken at the opponents on the line while chanting "BRICK". That could stick around for awhile. :thumb:

Reward bricks throughout the game to students being rowdy!!! Everyone wins, it adds to the atmosphere, and would be fun for the students. "THE BRICK ZOO" section.
