Griz ease past Cal Fullerton

jordan wood: 29 minutes, one point, one rebound, no assists, one turnover, three fouls. how can you justify 29 minutes with that stat line?

Agreed. He is really struggling. He is working hard out there, but we need more production from what is supposed to be the scoring guard position. Moving Jammar to 2 and getting more minutes for Art Steward at 3 might be the answer.

That is precisely why you are not a coach, never have been, never will be. Do you think the pre season is all about racking up W's? In case you missed it, which is highly probable, Woods played very well early. Tinks is trying to get him back on track, mainly his self confidence. You don't instill any of that in a kid, by sitting his ass on the bench. Art is getting more minutes, and is playing better, but this team needs Woods to get back on track because they will need his perimeter game. Why don't you stick with what you know citay, paisley shirts and concession stands.

Its going to be crucial to this teams long term success to get our "shooters" on track...Wood and Adams both will need to start knocking down 3's or come conference we could be in big trouble. I love the way that Steward and Jamar are playing and I think they are only going to get better....but in order for this team to have the success its capable of we need to stretch the defense otherwise teams will pack it in and Cherry won't be able to get penetration and Qvale will get triple teamed. Selvig's skill set helps to open things up inside but he is still a big man and we need him in the paint to take advantage of his interior passing and rebounding. Wood seems to be Tinkles guy right now and he needs to get it going....I wouldn't mind seeing him put it up more often to try and shoot himself out of this slump...especially early in the year....at least make people guard you by being a threat to shoot!! Adams being a later addition may take even longer to come along.....but if either of these guys dont start getting their stroke back we could be in some trouble.....I'm not giving up on Wood or Adams but I think we are really missing Idris Lasis...the European player we signed that couldnt get cleared.

Jordan Wood is a fundamentally solid leader on the court. He's struggling with confidence right now, but I totally agree that he should continue to get lots of time and look to shoot more. He played very good defense last night, rebounded well and is one of our best post-feeders. If you don't think he needs to be good for us to be good, you don't understand hoops in my opinion.

I posted this in the game thread, but here's my two cents on Mr. Wood:

--Jordan Wood didn't shoot much, but I think once he gets going he has the potential to be better than Staudacher. Looks like he has more quicks/athleticism than Stauds did, so against slower teams, he should be able to create his own shot way more than Stauds was ever able to.

I am D1, he is not even sniffing NAIA Status. Like i said, he knows paisley shirts and eating, not necessarily in that order though :thumb:

Quit bashing the guy. Did you guys/gals like Staudacher?? if you did, you should know better than to get on a guy like Wood. Staudacher constantly had game's like this. I like Wood better than Staudacher, because Wood isnt afraid to take it to the hoop (more agressive where Stauds camped on the perimeter), and he is a far better defender. Fullerton played great perimeter defense (1-13 for three's I believe).

Give the kid a break, and if you liked Stauds, you should be extremely happy that we have Jordan Wood.

Well, with your great expertise and coaching ability and your ability to psychoanalyze any and all, I just don't understand how the Griz can have lost two games. Surely, you must let the team know that you are available, so that they can continue, undefeated to rise at the top of the NCAA tourney. We know you can do it....you say so, yourself. Make us proud!

would be nice to have Michael Taylor right about now.... :?

+1. I was wondering pre-season how much we will miss him. I hope that someone steps up and makes us forget we lost our two best long-ball threats last season.

awf, are you trying to egg me on?
alright.
i don't know where gb1 gets the idea i wear paisley. i wear black, the opposite of virture. gb1 wears white socks. the last time i saw him, he had dingleberries growing out his ears, and a jacket that had seen too many winters. picture a scarecrow. his idea of culture is a wax museum. gourmet to him is chef boy-are-dee with veleeta cheese. why, if it'd save a buck on heating bills, this guy would cover main hall with aluminum siding.
there's style for you.
